New York Beer Project has established themselves as one of the brewing titans here in Western New York, spreading their wings by opening locations in Victor, NY and even all the way down in Orlando, Florida! Fittingly, before NYBP’s formation, the founders Kelly and Kevin Krupski fell in love with brewing when visiting Colorado and experiencing the scale and inclusiveness of their breweries there, “starting” their project.
This trip inspired the couple to create an atmosphere where families and children could enjoy hand-in-hand with beer aficionados and casual drinkers. Thus kicked off the New York Beer Project, with the pair hiring consultants while learning all they possibly could about brewing.
New York Beer Project’s Lockport “Mothership”, as Kelly calls it, was opened in 2015. What makes New York Beer Project, at any of their locations, is their dedication and reverence to the “Ghosts of Breweries Past”. Their original location in Lockport pays homage to old New York City brewing warehouse and beer gardens with its architecture and ambience through reconstructions of Grand Central Terminal chandeliers, subway signs and eclectic stonework.
Since then, NYBP has surged forward establishing themselves as a staple within Buffalo and Western New York’s massive, expanding brewing community. Their commitment to preserving the past and revitalizing it must be admired and it’s clear that I’m not the only one who feels that way given their success.
