This contest invites participants to create living representations of famous works of art for great prizes. These stunning replicas—often called tableaux—can be made using people\, props\, and your own creativity. Anyone can participate\, including students\, community groups\, organizations\, families\, and individuals. \nThis year\, we are celebrating all things Buffalo AKG! Participants are invited to take a closer look at the museum’s collection and AKG Public Art Initiative as they select their tableaux. We are excited to see the community’s interpretation of our works! \nMore than $4\,000 in prizes will be awarded to the creators of winning tableaux. Local judges will select the Judges’ Choice\, Best Craftsmanship\, and Most Creative Entry. These awards will be given in each category: School Groups Grades K–8\, School Groups Grades 9–12\, Individual Adults (Ages 18+)\, Individual Kids and Teens (Ages 17 and under)\, and Households/Community Groups. \nWe invite the entire community to join us to see the overwhelming creativity on display and vote for your favorite tableaux in the People’s Choice Awards. We welcome you to an evening where cosplayers and photographers join forces to create some magic inside our lush Botanical Gardens. Dress to impress and bring your most creative ideas and photographers and use our beautiful conservatory as your canvas. The event will take place from 4pm to 9pm and will give you opportunity for both daytime photos and evening photos with special lighting effects. Our newest exhibit\, Mutation Invasion: Flesh-eating Flora will make for an even more interesting backdrop filled with carnivorous plants and mutated plant sculptures. Food and beverage from the Grazeful Gatherer and the Buffalo Bubble Bar will be available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to explore the conservatory in between photoshoots\, connect and socialize\, and enjoy the food and beverages. \nGuidelines and Photography Policy:\n\nCostume changes are permitted\, but must be done so in the restrooms.\nSmall props are permitted but must remain with you and your party at all times.\nTripods are permitted during this special night only.\nBe mindful of you and the guests around you. Pathways must remain clear and open and all spaces must be shared.\nPets are not permitted.\nFurniture and large props are not permitted.\nWe do not allow drone photography inside.\nThe Botanical Gardens’ plants\, arrangements\, exhibits\, benches\, chairs\, tables\, signage etc. are not to be moved\, walked on\, or disturbed in any way. Any destruction will be at the cost of the guest.\nWe reserve the right to ask anyone who appears to be intoxicated to leave without a refund.\nSome exhibits or special events may be taking place on the day of your reservation; therefore\, some rooms may be unavailable or altered.

Liz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with Museum Studies from\nNiagara University. She is passionate about museum education and is excited to bring her creativity to the\ngardens. Her special interests include Botanical Illustration\, Impressionism\, and the history of Land Art.\nPrior to joining the Botanical Gardens’ team\, Liz worked in the department of Art and Family Programs for\nseveral years at Artpark in Lewiston\, NY and has interned with multiple galleries including the Buffalo AKG\nArt Museum. Liz is also an artist herself\, her love for botany and nature shines through her personal\nartwork. She is very much looking forward to getting the public inspired by the gardens and offering\ncreative workshops. In her spare time Liz enjoys drawing\, painting\, traveling\, drinking coffee\, visiting\nmuseums\, and taking care of her many houseplants!
