SUMMARY:Lyle Lovett and Leo Kottke
DESCRIPTION:Kleinhans Music Hall and Soul of Buffalo present\nLyle Lovett and Leo Kottke\nIn Conversation and Song\nJohn Hiatt who was originally scheduled to perform with Lyle Lovett at Kleinhans Music Hall recently suffered injuries from falling during a hike. Consequenty he had to cancel his fall tour dates and will not be able to appear with Mr. Lovett for their planned performance at Kleinhans Music Hall. Fortunately\, he is expected to make a full recovery. \nGiven the difficult situation\, Leo Kottke\, a legend of roots music guitar and song in his own right\, has gracious accepted Mr. Lovett’s invitation to join him for this intimate acoustic performance at Kleinhans Music Hall on Tuesday\, October 10th\, 2023. \nAll existing tickets will be honored\, but patrons who wish for a refund are encouraged to contact the Box Office via email at boxoffice@bpo.org or via phone at 716-885-5000. \nABOUT THE ARTISTS\nLYLE LOVETT\nA singer\, composer\, and actor\, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling\, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country\, swing\, jazz\, folk\, gospel\, and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. \nWhether touring as a ‘Duo’ or with his ‘Acoustic Group’ or his ‘Large Band\,’ Lovett’s live performances show not only the breadth of this Texas legend’s deep talents\, but also the diversity of his influences\, making him one of the most compelling and captivating musicians in popular music. \nSince his self-titled debut in 1986\, Lyle Lovett has evolved into one of music’s most vibrant and iconic performers. Among his many accolades\, besides the four Grammy Awards\, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award\, and was named Texas State Musician. \nHis works\, rich and eclectic\, are some of the most beloved of any artist working today. \nLEO KOTTKE\nAcoustic guitarist Leo Kottke was born in Athens\, Georgia\, but left town after a year and a half. Raised in 12 different states\, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child\, flirting with both violin and trombone\, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar at age 11. \nKottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the U of Wisconsin\, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the U of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College.
