SUMMARY:Cherish the Ladies “A Celtic Christmas”
DESCRIPTION:Kleinhans Music Hall presents\nCherish the Ladies “A Celtic Christmas”\nDecember 1st\, 2023\, 8 PM\nThe Mary Seaton Room\, Kleinhans Music Hall \nOne of the most engaging and successful ensembles in the history of Celtic music\, Cherish The Ladies have shared timeless Irish traditions with audiences worldwide for over thirty years. In their Celtic Christmas program\, the Ladies put their signature mark on classic carols such as “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Silent Night\,” in arrangements that highlight the group’s unique Celtic instrumentation\, beautiful harmonies\, and spectacular step dancing. Hailed by The New York Times as “passionate\, tender and rambunctious\,” Cherish The Ladies have released three critically acclaimed holiday albums\, On Christmas Night\, A Star In The East\, and 2015’s Christmas In Ireland. \nAbout Cherish the Ladies\n“It is simply impossible to imagine an audience that wouldn’t enjoy what they do\,” says The Boston Globe of Cherish The Ladies\, Grammy Award nominated Irish-American supergroup that formed in 1985 to celebrate the rise of extraordinary women in what had been a male-dominated Celtic music scene. Cherish The Ladies has shared timeless Irish traditions and good cheer with audiences worldwide for decades. They’ve brought their signature blend of virtuosic instrumental talents\, beautiful vocals\, and stunning step dancing to the White House\, the Olympics\, and to PBS with their television special\, An Irish Homecoming\, which received an Emmy Award. The Washington Post praises the “astonishing array of virtuosity” that Cherish The Ladies bring to the stage on a regular basis. Their latest album\, Heart of the Home\, embraces the gift of music passed down from generations. “It was the greatest gift they could give us\,” says bandleader Joanie Madden. “We’re carrying on the music of our fathers.” As their reputation and admiration from both fans and critics alike continues to grow\, Cherish The Ladies blazes forward into another decade of music making. \nUnder the leadership of All-Ireland flute and whistle champion Joanie Madden\, named by The Irish Voice Newspaper as one of the Top 25 most influential Irish Americans of the past quarter century\, these ladies create an evening that includes a spectacular blend of virtuoso instrumental talents\, beautiful vocals\, captivating arrangements\, and stunning step dancing. Their continued success as one of the top Celtic groups in the world is due to the ensemble’s ability to take the best of Irish traditional music and dance and put it forth in an immensely entertaining show. \nThe New York Times calls their music “passionate\, tender\, and rambunctious\,” and the Washington Post praises their “astonishing array of virtuosity.” They’ve won recognition as the BBC’s Best Musical Group of the Year and named Top North American Celtic Group at the Irish Music Awards and not to mention having a street named after them in the Bronx! They’ve collaborated with such musicians as The Boston Pops\, The Clancy Brothers\, the Chieftains\, Vince Gill\, Nanci Griffith\, Pete Seeger\, Don Henley\, Arlo Guthrie and Maura O’Connell as well as being the featured soloist with over 280 nights of symphony orchestras. \nThe level of artistic\, historic\, and purely enticing entertainment is unlike any in its genre. As their reputation and admiration from both fans and critics alike continue to grow\, Cherish The Ladies blazes forward into another decade of music-making. \nJOANIE MADDEN Born in New York of Irish parents and raised in a musical household\, her mother hails from Miltown Malbay\, County Clare and her father Joe\, an All-Ireland Champion accordion player was a native of Portumna\, County Galway. At a very early age\, Joanie was exposed to the finest Irish traditional music listening to her father and his friends play music at family gatherings and social events. She began taking lessons from legendary flutist and National Heritage Award winner Jack Coen\, and within a few short years\, she had achieved great success winning the world championship in Irish music on both the concert flute and tin whistle. During that time\, Joanie also became the first American to win the coveted Senior All- Ireland Championship on the whistle. \nMadden has sold over 500\,000 solo albums and has performed on over 200 recordings\, including three Grammy-winning albums running the gamut from Pete Seeger and Sinead O’Connor to the Boston Pops. Throughout her musical career\, she has amassed a plethora of awards and citations. Her merits include being the youngest member inducted into both the Irish-American Musicians Hall of Fame and the Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Hall of Fame\, she was chosen for the Wild Geese award\, where she joined an impressive list of previous honorees\, including: Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt\, Tony award winning playwright Brian Friel\, Nobel prize laureate Seamus Heaney and Irish dance sensation\, Michael Flatley. Irish America Magazine selected her twice as one of the Top 100 Irish-Americans in the United States and she was also named Traditional Musician of the Year by the Irish Voice newspaper\, all for her contributions to promoting and preserving Irish culture in the United States. In 2010\, Joanie was forever immortalized on the streets of her native Bronx when a street was named after her on the Grand Concourse: “Joanie Madden and Cherish the Ladies”. In 2011\, she was bestowed one of the nation’s highest awards as she was chosen for the Ellis Island Medal of Honor\, joining an illustrious list of distinguished American citizens\, including six United States Presidents as well as Ambassadors\, Senators\, Congressmen and Supreme Court Justices\, all singled out for their exemplary service to the United States. In 2012\, she was a recipient of the esteemed USA Artist Fellowship grant\, singled out as one of the most innovative and influential artists in America\, becoming the first Irish traditional musician to do so. In 2013 she won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Irish Music Awards and was also named Grand Marshal of the Yonkers parade in New York. 2015\, Joanie was named Clare Person of the Year by the County Clare Association in New York and also the recipient of the Turlough O’Carolan Award for her musical legacy. In 2016\, Irish America Magazine named Joanie as one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Irish Women in the world. \nMARY COOGAN was born in New York and raised in a musical household. She is a founding member of Cherish the Ladies. Her mother came from Castlerea in County Roscommon and her father Jim was a great accordion player whose parents emigrated from County Waterford. Her father passed down his love of Irish music to Mary and she became a self-taught guitar\, mandolin and bouzouki player. In addition to her outstanding musical talents\, Mary also holds her masters degree in education and was named in Who’s Who among American Teachers. She has a number of recordings including a beautiful solo album entitled; “Christmas” and also one with her father called “Passing Time”\, but her close ties to children pushed her to make a wonderful collection of music with her great friend Kathy Ludlowe for our young fans entitled\, “The Big Ship Sails.” She continues to teach music to children in New York and is a highly sought-after accompanist. Acoustic Guitar Magazine named Mary one of the top four Celtic guitarists in Celtic music. \nMIRELLA MURRAY grew up in Claddaghduff on the northwest coast of Connemara in County Galway. Her father John Joe\, a notable sean nós dancer\, came from Inishark Island and had a deep understanding and love for traditional music. Mirella studied the piano accordion with Mary Finn and it was at music classes that she met up with fiddler Liz Kane from Letterfrack. Mirella won the accordion All-Ireland championship and duet All-Ireland championship with Liz Kane. \nMirella teamed up with the great fiddle player Tola Custy from Co. Clare and they recorded\, “Three Sunsets”\, which was voted one of the top five albums of the year by The Irish Times Newspaper. Mirella performed at the International Women’s Day Festival in Moscow; was featured in the Galway Arts Festival and toured Austria\, Scandinavia\, Switzerland\, Spain\, and France. She was a featured soloist in the off-Broadway production of the late Johnny Cunningham’s theatrical production\, “Peter & Wendy”\, an adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan” which garnished two OBIE Awards. \nMirella also has an incredible flair for teaching\, and it is a credit to her musicianship that twenty-two of her pupils have gained All-Ireland titles. She has accumulated a vast store of tunes from her travels\, and musicians such as Sharon Shannon\, Lunasa and the Bumblebees credit her as a source for many uncommon melodies. \nKATHLEEN BOYLE from Glasgow\, Scotland comes from a family steeped in the traditional music of Donegal. Her father Hughie is a talented musician and handed down his love of music to her. Kathleen is a talented pianist and accordion player and has won All-Scotland and All-Britain titles on both instruments. \nIn 1999\, Kathleen made history as the first graduate to gain a degree in traditional music from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She is in great demand as a teacher and lecturer on both accordion and piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama\, the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music and The Irish Academy of World Music in Limerick University. \nShe has performed at Holyrood Palace for His Royal Highness Prince Charles and for Irish President Mary McAleese; Kathleen’s travels with Cherish the Ladies and Dochas have taken her around the world with tours of the UK\, Spain\, France\, Ireland\, Italy\, Denmark\, Austria\, Germany\, Sweden\, America\, Canada and China. Dochas was voted best newcomers at the 2004 Scots Traditional Music Awards and nominated as best folk band in 2006. Kathleen’s first solo album “An Cailin Rua” or “The Red Haired Girl” was released to rave reviews in 2008. Her latest recording\, “Back to Donegal”\, is an album she recorded with her father and family members. \nNOLLAIG CASEY is one of Ireland’s most gifted musicians\, with her own unique way of playing traditional Irish music on the fiddle and has such a distinctive sound that it would be impossible to mistake it for that of anyone else. This “sound” is so attractive to other musicians that there exists hardly any major Irish artist of the last thirty years with whom she has not worked – and many international artists have been equally entranced. \nA graduate from University College Cork with a Bachelors in Music Degree at the exceptionally early age of nineteen\, she embarked upon a professional career first joining the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra where she remained for three years until she joined the ground breaking Irish band\, Planxty. \nIn addition to her work with Cherish the Ladies\, Nollaig has recorded and worked with Enya\, Van Morrison\, Sinéad O’Connor\, Nanci Griffith\, Ricky Skaggs\, Rod Stewart\, Dónal Lunny\, Mary Black\, Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy\, Carlos Nuñez\, Jim Rooney\, Andy Irvine\, Moving Hearts\, The Indigo Girls\, Spandau Ballet\, Christy Moore\, Liam O’Flynn\, Dan ar Bras\, Sharon Shannon\, Maura O’Connell\, Dick Gaughan\, Paddy Keenan\, Máirtín O’Connor. She can also be frequently found performing with her husband\, legendary guitarist Arty McGlynn and along with her sisters\, Máire and Mairéad as the Casey Sisters. \nNollaig has toured the globe with a wide variety of artists in Ireland\, the UK.\, France\, Germany\, Holland\, Italy\, Spain\, Portugal\, Hungary\, Libya\, Switzerland\, Austria\, Denmark\, Sweden\, Norway\, Estonia\, Japan\, the U.S.A.\, Australia and New Zealand. \nDON STIFFE is one of the most powerful and unique singer/songwriters to emerge on the Irish Folk Scene in the past decade. He hails from Galway City and the clarity and richness of his voice and the emotion with which he delivers his songs\, has been compared with the best ballad singers that Ireland has ever produced. Don’s award winning debut solo album “Start of a Dream” was released in 2006 to critical acclaim and his version of Richard Thompsons classic song\, “Dimming of the Day” won vocal cut of the year from the 2010 Live Ireland awards. His passionate singing and majestic voice guarantees a most impressive performance in front of a live audience as those who have seen him perform in Ireland\, Europe and the USA can attest to. 2011 was a year to remember for Don\, as he was one of the finalists in one of Ireland most watched TV programs\, The All Ireland Talent Show. His continued popularity and support from viewers provided him with many weeks of performing to live audiences of up to 800\,000 tuning in weekly. Irish American super group; Cherish The Ladies invited Don to join them on their summer tour of Ireland and Scotland and also further touring consisting of 18 States in America as part of their Christmas Tour. The band’s leader Joanie Madden introduces Stiffe as\, “One of the greatest singers Ireland has ever produced”. In December 2011 Don released his second album “Lifes Journey” and one of Don’s own songs from that album\, Somebody Special\, was recently awarded Song of the Year from the Live Ireland Awards. Noted artists; Sean Keane\, Cherish the Ladies\, Kate Purcell and Matt Keane\, have also showed their respect for Don’s prowess as a songwriter and have covered his self-penned songs. \nDANCERS \nJASON OREMUS has been heavily involved in Irish dancing and the dance industry his entire life. Originally from Sydney\, Australia\, he won 5 consecutive State and National Solo Irish dancing titles from 1999-2003. Jason performed in the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony alongside Tap Dogs in 2000 at just 15 years of age. \nIn early 2004\, Jason joined the international dance phenomenon “Riverdance”. After a short period of time\, he was invited to take over as the lead and to star as the principle male dancer. His travels as the principal dancer took him all around the globe where he performed to standing only crowds in over 30 countries. Jason has recently been developing a new concept of Irish dance that attempts to break the barriers and traditional restraints that have been placed on this engaging art form. \nGARRETT COLEMAN As a native of Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania\, Garrett was trained in traditional Irish step dance at the Burke School under the tutelage of the internationally renowned Theresa Burke. Despite his traditional background\, Garrett has consistently found himself drawn to rhythmically innovative types of movement that push the boundaries of athleticism through dance. In addition to Irish Step\, he has trained in hip hop\, tap\, and contemporary movement. \nCompetitively\, Garrett was named the two-time World Champion (2004\, 2005) and All Ireland Champion (2004). He is also a nine-time Mid-American Champion and has held the North American title six times. In 2006\, he was a silver medalist and scholarship winner with the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts\, and was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. In June of 2006\, he met President Bush at a ceremony in Washington\, D.C. and performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Garrett has toured professionally with Riverdance and Trinity Irish Dance Company and has performed with various other groups\, including Cherish the Ladies\, The Chieftians\, Eileen Ivers\, Gaelic Storm\, Marvin Hamlisch and the Pittsburgh Symphony\, David Dorfman of NYC\, and Pittsburgh’s Attack Theatre. \nJULIE FITZGERALD is an accomplished fiddle player and step dancer from Bancroft\, Ontario. She is a 2- Time Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion\, as well as 2-Time Open Step Dance Champion. Since her early days of old-time fiddle\, she has diversified and become an accomplished fiddle player of many styles. She is a member of the family group “Everything Fitz: The Fitzgerald Family.” \nJulie has been in high demand for both her fiddling and dancing as a performer in various groups across North America. In addition to touring with Cherish the Ladies\, she has had the opportunity to perform internationally with many of her lifelong musical ‘idols’ including Leahy\, Natalie MacMaster\, Stepcrew\, Bowfire\, Troy MacGillivray\, Sharon Shannon\, We Banjo 3\, Carlos Nunez\, Solas and Eileen Ivers. \nJulie recently graduated from Humber College in Toronto from their Bachelor of Music program. Julie’s love of passing on the Canadian traditional music and dance led to the creation of an instructional step dance DVD. Whenever she is taking a break from touring\, Julie teaches private dance and fiddle lessons to students at home and at music festivals.

SUMMARY:THE SADIES W/ SPECIAL GUESTS
DESCRIPTION:The Sadies w/ special guests return to Buffalo Iron Works on Saturday December 2nd\, 2023! \nThe Sadies \nAs we all know\, the ‘press release’ is a tool meant to announce and promote a new recording project. A jaded and unreliable sales-pitch at best\, the usual ‘bio’ invariably attempts to describe the project in question as some sort of second coming. But how do you sell sounds? The critics’ voice must be heard at all costs\, but this is something else entirely. Obviously\, this is an ad. \nKnowing what you’re getting is all anyone really wants to know. The details of how the recording is made might be interesting\, but they aren’t exactly crucial to the listening process. In our case\, comparisons can be misleading too\, because The Sadies don’t really fit tidily into any genre\, or even sub-genre. We aren’t really ‘pre or post’ anything and we don’t have the right hair-cuts or hats for any particular scene. Can’t really call us modern or retro either. We certainly don’t claim to have re-invented the wheel. We just are. And have been for a very long time. So\, all that matters is the music itself\, right? \nAfter making so many records\, some things get easier. Most things do not. But just because it’s harder doesn’t mean it isn’t better. I think it’s gotten easier to know when we are on to something and that’s in no small part due to working with Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire/Belle Orchestre) as producer. We put in a lot of hard work but he always made it easy and fun. This is\, of course\, totally irrelevant to your listening experience. \nWe began this recording well over a year before the plague began and completed it in June 2021. The studio we worked at in Quebec is perfectly calibrated to our claustrophobia. It was mostly engineered by Pietro Amato (Belle Orchestre/etc.)\, who is great at everything he does when he’s not doing something else. Jon Spencer (Jon Spencer!!!) was kind enough to intervene and rescue a song for us. My folks play on it. There was a church™ involved. Curfews were broken. Borders were crossed stealthily. Sean did all of the artwork. Travis and Mike did a lot of driving. I did the bio. \nColder Streams is a record made with love by loved ones. The Sadies have released a lot of records. This is one of them. \nDo any bands make their best work this far along in their career? I can think of artists who still make great music after all these years\, but their best? Yet\, here we are and that’s what I’m accusing us of. I think it’s our best but I’ve been wrong before. All I ask is that you listen to a few songs and decide for yourself what it sounds like. If you like it\, you’ll know what to do. But my description of the music would just be punishing for the both of us. \nI guess all that really needs to be said here is that if you like The Sadies\, you will definitely want to get Colder Streams. If you disliked or felt indifferent towards The Sadies\, you will definitely want to get Colder Streams. If you’ve never heard The Sadies and yet you’re still reading\, you too will definitely want to get Colder Streams. \nBut unfortunately\, it’s sold out. \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $15 ADV/$20 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm \nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+

While seeking shelter from the cold\, the teen is discovered by the theater’s caretaker who uses the ghosts and spirits from the building’s past to turn her life around. Following the performance of the rock opera\, 2023’s tour also boasts a rocking\, blazing\, and laser-lit second set containing more of TSO’s greatest hits\, fan-favorites\, and surprises. And\, for 27 years\, our tradition has been to make every year’s tour better than the last for you. 2023 is no exception as this year’s tour will be the best ever. I can’t wait to see our ‘repeat offenders’ out at the shows and look forward to seeing the new faces as well\,” said TSO’s music director and lead guitarist Al Pitrelli. \nTSO\, which has sold more than 12 million albums and DVDs\, will release music in several formats this fall\, including a 25th anniversary edition of The Christmas Attic on vinyl\, in deluxe and standard packaging\, on Sept. 29; a clear vinyl pressing of Christmas Eve and Other Stories on Nov. 3; plus\, a digital release of The Ghosts of Christmas Eve in Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio and hi-fidelity stereo mixes\, including both the songs and narration\, titled The Ghosts Of Christmas Eve – The Complete Narrated Version on Nov. 10. \nSince its touring debut\, TSO has played more than 2\,000 Winter Tour shows to more than 18 million fans. SUMMARY:DYLAN LEBLANC
DESCRIPTION:Dylan LeBlanc makes his Buffalo Iron Works debut on January 28th\, 2023! \nDylan LeBlanc is engaging and soft-spoken in person\, yet his striking new album Renegade reflects the power of his live show – one that he simply describes as rock ‘n’ roll. While the album was recorded in just 10 days and tracked in three\, the intensity of the project marks the culmination of more than a decade on the road. \n“I like the idea of a renegade — branching off from society or from the structure of the way our world is designed\,” he says of Renegade\, his first album for ATO Records. “It felt right to call it that. I wanted to write about the crueler\, nasty aspects of the world and life.” \nLeBlanc’s observations are woven through Renegade\, though he’s more interested in telling the story than judging the characters for their decisions. The title track\, he says\, is “about troubled cocky young men charming young women who were intrigued by that way of life\, only for it to end in tragedy. I saw this countless times growing up.” Later he writes about his personal efforts to become a stronger person in “Born Again\,” after a childhood of being bullied for his long hair and an adolescence marked by insecurity\, fear\, and anger. \nLeBlanc considers the new album a departure from his past work\, but only because there’s more of an edge to these sessions\, recorded with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb in Nashville’s Studio A. This time around\, LeBlanc primarily stayed plugged in for the sessions\, giving Renegade a Tom Petty feel\, charged with a streak of ‘80s rock. “I never really played electric guitar live in the studio like that\,” he says. “I’m so used to the rhythmic\, acoustic thing. It was just like playing in a show.” \nSince 2016\, LeBlanc has toured with Alabama rock group The Pollies as his backing band. He’s known most of the band members since childhood\, growing up together in Muscle Shoals\, and considers them his closest friends. Because they’ve been playing songs on Renegade live\, it was only logical that the Pollies backed up LeBlanc in the studio\, too. \n“They bring out a comfort in me to let loose\, let myself go a little bit more\, and get more immersed in the music\,” LeBlanc says. “It’s such a telekinetic thing\, because we’ve known each other for so long and we’ve played together a lot. It’s a band of guys that I know musically really well. They let me express myself creatively in a way that I probably wouldn’t be comfortable enough to do before.” \nThese expressions are sometimes borne out of conversations with strangers\, such as the woman in “Domino” who shared her stories of prostitution with him\, or the man he met in New Orleans who inspired “Bang Bang Bang\,” whose life was dramatically altered by gun violence. On a more personal note\, “Damned” finds LeBlanc trying to wrap his head around religion\, while “I See It in Your Eyes” and “Lone Rider” capture the complications of relationships. One of the album’s quieter moments\, “Sand and Stone” is an effort to live in the present moment. As Renegade draws to a close\, “Magenta” evokes the slave history of a farm in Louisiana\, while “Honor Among Thieves” makes a powerful statement about ancestry\, immigration laws\, and land rights. \nLeBlanc’s previous album\, 2016’s Cautionary Tale\, offered a satisfyingly mellow vibe in line with the ‘70s musicians who influenced him. However\, once he started touring with the Pollies\, the sonic textures began to shift. Yet\, one of the strongest ties between the albums is LeBlanc’s blossoming confidence as a singer. The range and depth he showed as a vocalist on Cautionary Tale run throughout the 10 songs on Renegade. \n“I think my voice is definitely something I had to find\,” he says. “I didn’t have the range that I have now. Somebody told me\, ‘Your voice is like a muscle. The more you use it\, the stronger it gets.’ I really took that to heart. I always tried to go further than what I was capable of\, and push harder for it\, which is sometimes embarrassing\, but sometimes it works out. Over time I could sing a lot higher\, and had more range and more development. Also\, playing shows helps your voice. You can’t substitute experience.” \nAs a boy\, LeBlanc lived in Austin\, Texas\, with his mother\, stepfather\, a brother and sister. When the kids would go visit their paternal grandmother in Shreveport\, Louisiana\, LeBlanc would constantly replay of a videotape of his dad playing guitar in a band called The Underground\, strumming along with a toy guitar. Before long\, music became an obsession. In his early teens\, LeBlanc absorbed the ‘80s music his mother preferred\, like The Police and U2. Meanwhile\, his grandmother encouraged him to keep writing music and introduced him to important songwriters like John Prine and Merle Haggard. He’d spend hours in his bedroom learning guitar by playing along with CDs. \nBecause his father James LeBlanc was a staff writer at FAME Enterprises in Muscle Shoals\, Dylan spent years hanging around the office\, getting to know founder Rick Hall. In contrast to the city’s incredible soul and rock heritage\, most of LeBlanc’s friends were listening to metal\, though personally LeBlanc was drawn to albums by Bright Eyes\, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young. At 16\, he dropped out of high school to join a rock band. He’s maintained a music career ever since\, and the release of Renegade means another global trek with the band\, which he fully embraces. \n“I really like to be goofy and joke with them a lot\, but also to get deep with people and have real conversations\, and talk about the things that matter\,” says LeBlanc\, who now lives in Nashville. “I don’t read anything that doesn’t help me grow as a person in some way. I don’t read novels anymore. I don’t read for entertainment. I just read to grow. I feel like I want to have a conversation with people who are looking to grow and move forward in their own spiritual way.” \nBuffalo Iron Works\n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203\nTickets: $20 ADV/$25 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm\nAges: 18+

SUMMARY:LESPECIAL W/ GRUB
DESCRIPTION:Twenty6 Productions Presents: lespecial w/ Grub at Buffalo Iron Works on Wednesday December 6th\, 2023! \nLespecial \nlespecial is redefining the term “power trio”. The multi-instrumentalists from Connecticut continue to push the boundaries of what a three-piece band is capable of both live and in the studio ahead of their latest album\, “Odd Times”. The band’s signature blend of “heavy future groove” combines headbanging metal riffage and surgical rhythmic precision with bone shaking 808s\, sub synths and ethereal vocal stylings for a dance floor that welcomes moshing\, dancing and hip swaying alike. Listeners are taken on a journey to the musical netherworld through esoteric soundscapes punctuated by raw\, primal power. \nOdd Times\, lespecial’s darkest and heaviest record to date\, is an enigmatic and compelling musical project that explores the ever-changing nature of time amidst isolation. With heavy riffs\, tribal drumming\, and hints of levity\, it’s a captivating journey crafted in collaboration with Havok’s David Sanchez. An intriguing blend of old-school metal and modern djent-inspired riffage awaits in this haunting sonic experience. \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $20 ADV/$25 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm \nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+

SUMMARY:KELLER WILLIAMS
DESCRIPTION:Twenty6 Productions Presents: Keller Williams at Buffalo Iron Works on Saturday December 9th\, 2023! \nKeller Williams \nMusical Mad Scientist\, Keller Williams\, returns to Buffalo\, NY! Keller is best known for his whimsical lyrics\, guitar prowess and for creating samples on the fly in front of the audience\, a technique called live phrase sampling or looping\, with nothing pre-recorded. The end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica\, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” \nVirginian\, Keller Williams\, released his first album in 1994\, FREEK\, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ\, SPUN\, BREATHE\, LOOP\, LAUGH\, HOME\, DANCE\, STAGE\, GRASS\, DREAM\, TWELVE\, LIVE\, ODD\, THIEF\, KIDS\, BASS\, PICK\, FUNK\, VAPE\, SYNC\, RAW\, SANS\, ADD\, SPEED\, CELL and GRIT. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism\, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. \nThe end product is music that encompasses rock\, jazz\, funk and bluegrass\, and always keeps the audience on their feet. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances\, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs\, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar\, bass\, guitar synthesizer and drum samples; a technique called live phrase sampling or “looping”. \nThe end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica\, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” Keller’s constant evolution has led to numerous band projects as well; Keller & The Keels\, Grateful Grass\, KWahtro\, Keller and the Travelin’ McCourys\, Grateful Gospel and More Than A Little to name a few. Keller can be found playing clubs and festivals around the U.S. with these projects throughout the year. \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $25 ADV/$30 DOS \nDoors: 8:00pm \nShow: 9:00pm \nAges: 18+

SUMMARY:Lindsey Stirling – Snow Waltz Tour
DESCRIPTION:Lindsey Stirling – Snow Waltz Tour \nFor over a decade\, Lindsey Stirling has enchanted audiences across the globe by performing a certain spellbinding magic with her electronic violin\, dreaming up an exquisitely composed yet boldly inventive sound entirely her own. On her new album Snow Waltz\, the classically trained musician/songwriter/dancer/author finds herself fully in her element\, sharing a selection of holiday classics and original songs that evoke intense emotion through her immersive arrangements and mesmerizing melodies. The follow-up to her debut holiday album Warmer in the Winter—a 2017 release whose hit single “Carol of the Bells” made history as the only instrumental song ever to reach the Top 10 at AC Radio—Snow Waltz emerges as a singular new entry in the holiday-music canon\, once again proving Stirling’s extraordinary gift as an instrumental storyteller. \n“On my first holiday album I toyed with more traditional Christmas sounds like big-band music\, but this time I wanted to give the songs a more whimsical\, pixie-like feeling that’s quintessentially me\,” says Stirling. “It’s always a challenge to put your own stamp on a classic song that’s been recorded hundreds of times\, and I really loved experimenting with different approaches and making sure that every song felt completely unique to who I am as an artist.” \nStirling’s sixth full-length and first album since 2019’s Artemis (a No. 1 entry on Billboard’s US Top Classical Albums and US Top Dance/Electronic Albums charts)\, Snow Waltz took shape at her home studio in Los Angeles\, where she mainly worked with longtime collaborators like producer Mark Maxwell and orchestrator Stephen Anderson. “One of the more positive takeaways of the pandemic was learning how to record myself\, so that now I can capture ideas right when they come to me\,” notes Stirling\, who executive-produced Snow Waltz with Gladius (a Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter who’s worked with pop superstars like Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber). “I was able to harness my own creativity on the fly instead of having to wait until it was time to meet with a producer\, and because of that there’s a sense of freedom that I think you can hear in all the songs.” \nA dazzling showcase for the kaleidoscopic musicality first displayed on Stirling’s 2012 self-titled debut (a gold-certified effort featuring her platinum-selling smash single “Crystallize”)\, Snow Waltz takes its title from an original piece that perfectly exemplifies that unbridled creativity. “‘Snow Waltz’ came from thinking about that period of time between Halloween and Christmas where the two seasons overlap\,” she explains. “I wanted to create something in the same world as The Nightmare Before Christmas or the Harry Potter movies\, where there’s sort of a Christmas-y feeling alongside all the spookiness.” Rooted in her ineffably expressive violin work and graced with so many cinematic details (darkly sweeping percussion\, lilting flute melodies\, bright and sprightly glockenspiel tones)\, “Snow Waltz” immediately conjures that delightfully eerie mood\, wholly embodying the limitless imagination at the heart of Stirling’s artistry. \nWhen it came to reinterpreting timeless holiday songs for Snow Waltz\, Stirling tapped into the same boundless and unfettered ingenuity she brought to the title track. On “Joy to the World\,” for instance\, she joined forces with Gladius and Anderson to create a gloriously stomping\, Celtic-inspired take on the 18th century Christmas carol. “Celtic was always my favorite music to play when I was younger; the rhythms felt way more exciting to me than the classical music you tend to perform in violin lessons\,” Stirling says. “As I was choosing songs for the album\, ‘Joy to the World’ really spoke to my Celtic soul\, and it was so much fun to put together something that bounces so quickly from major to minor and back again.” \nAll throughout Snow Waltz\, Stirling matches the stunning complexity of her arrangements with a warmly effusive energy that shines through every song. One of the album’s most left-of-center moments\, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” centers on an elegantly frenetic violin performance from Stirling\, who also adorns the beat-heavy track with her hypnotic and heavenly vocals. For her flamenco-infused rendition of José Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad\,” she enlisted the guitar-playing talents of fellow multi-hyphenate Mark Ballas (a dancer/choreographer/musician/actor who served as her partner on the 25th season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”). “Little Drummer Boy” features a powerhouse performance from her longtime touring drummer Drew Steen\, while “O Come Emmanuel” unfolds with a brooding intensity that instantly lends the album an irresistible touch of drama. And in reimagining “Deck the Halls\,” Stirling deliberately pushed the boundaries of interpretation\, weaving in elements of “O Come\, All Ye Faithful\,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas\,” and “Silent Night” to create a captivating medley that gracefully cycles through a dizzying whirlwind of time signatures. \nAlthough all of Snow Waltz bears a potent emotionality\, songs like “Magic” ft. David Archuleta hold a particularly powerful significance for Stirling. One of several vocally driven original numbers on the album (along with “Crazy For Christmas” ft. Bonnie McKee and “Christmas Time With You” ft. Frawley)\, the bittersweet but uplifting ballad was sparked from what Stirling refers to as “one of the most profound moments in my life.” “When my father was passing away\, my sisters and my mother and I were gathered around him—all of us were just silent\, because everything felt so heavy\,” she recalls. “But then one of my sisters suggested we go around the circle and tell stories about my dad\, which led to us bringing up all these loving and funny memories about our favorite moments with him. It was the purest emotion I’ve ever felt\, because even though I was so sad and devastated at what I was losing\, I was also overcome by gratitude and joy. One thing I love about Christmas is that it helps us to recognize the magic in our lives\, so this song is my way of trying to inspire people to find that inner joy no matter what time of year it is or what they are going through.” \nFor the closing track to Snow Waltz\, Stirling selected an original instrumental called “Ice Storm\,” a guitar-fueled and wildly rousing track revealing her more rock-leaning sensibilities. “When I first started writing this record I’d been working on a rock album\, and during that transition time I decided to create a rock Christmas song\,” she says. “I grew up loving Trans-Siberian Orchestra\, so I felt like ‘Ice Storm’ would be a great way to nod to all the other TSO fans out there. I think it could become a niche favorite among some of my more diehard fans.” \nWith a holiday tour now in the works\, Stirling is eager to bring the songs of Snow Waltz to life onstage. Known for her highly visual live performance\, she even began conceptualizing many facets of her upcoming shows while in the thick of the writing process. “When we were working on ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen\,’ I got the idea to incorporate trapeze work in the live show—the arrangement feels so quirky and avant-garde\, it calls for some kind of circus-like element\,” says Stirling\, who also takes a hands-on role in designing her elaborate stage costumes. And by channeling so much of her personality and spirit into every aspect of Snow Waltz\, Stirling has fulfilled her mission of creating a one-of-a-kind holiday album sure to leave an indelible impact. “There are certain Christmas songs that take me right back to my childhood\, and a lot of those songs are from artists who stay true to their style and bring Christmas into their world\,” she says. “My hope is that this music becomes a part of people’s holiday traditions: something that holds so many special memories for them\, and really makes those memories last.”
