Discover how through the wonders of hydroponics! Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in water without soil. In this class\, you will learn the basics of how to create and care for a simple hydroponic system\, what types of plants are best suited to hydroponics\, as well as information on commercial systems and local resources.   \n“David is an amazing instructor and his courses are filled with useful information and instruction on how to practically apply it. I look forward to continuing the horticulture series with him.” – Amanda E. \nMeet your instructor\, David Clark!  \nDavid Clark has created and taught the wildly popular 7-level Horticulture Classes at The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens for 10 years. He is a Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional (CNLP)\, through the New York State Landscaping Association\, and PLANT Western New York. An avid gardener\, David has a degree in Floriculture from S.U.N.Y Cobleskill with over 30 years’ experience in the professional ornamental horticulture industry. \nA nationally recognized garden speaker\, David has given presentations locally for Lockwood’s Greenhouses in Hamburg\, NY; Urban Roots Community Garden Center\, Grass Roots Gardens and Massachusetts Avenue Project in Buffalo\, NY; Cornell Cooperative Master Gardeners of Erie\, Allegany & Cattaraugus Counties; The New York State Federated 8th District Garden Clubs; and the Erie County Pennsylvania Western Division Garden Clubs Judges Council. Along with being a visiting horticulture instructor at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh\, PA\, he has spoken at events across the United States and Canada including Bradford Pennsylvania’s ‘Betty Jane Monjar Landscape and Garden Symposium\, the West Coast’s largest Spring Garden Show in Costa Mesa\, California\, and the Northeast Floral Expo in Groton\, Connecticut. David Clark is featured in Television segments\, YouTube videos\, the National Garden Festival and Buffalo Garden Walk websites\, the Buffalo News\, The Upstate Gardeners Journal\, and the Buffalo\, NY “Spree Magazine”. He is a regular contributor to the Buffalo-NiagaraGardening.com online magazine and the #GardenChatter online gardening site. SUMMARY:Painted Pumpkins
DESCRIPTION:Painted Pumpkins\nOn-site at the Botanical Gardens in the Administration Building\nOctober 21\, 1-4pm\n$45/Person\n$40.50/Member \nJoin us for lots of creative fun while painting pumpkins to hang in your home!  We will be using acrylic paint and acrylic paint markers to create fun and beautiful pumpkin panels. Your piece will be “framed” and ready to hang when you leave the workshop.  All levels of painting experience are welcome in this one session workshop.  All supplies are included. \nOctober 21 \nRegistration closes October 18 \nClass Information and Procedures  \nMeet your instructor\, Judith Kosinski!  \nJudith has been creating ever since she can remember and has been teaching all she knows about art and creativity for more than 25 years! She is passionate about all aspects of artmaking and truly loves to help other artists create and grow their skills. \nJudy is an experienced and engaging educator; skilled with creative curriculum development\, teaching all media in fine art\, providing youth and professional mentoring. She most recently worked as an educator for Alden Central Schools for 23 years\, teaching art and life skills to grades 9-12\, art classes to inmates in a correctional facility\, coordinated adult education programs\, and organized community-wide art events. \nHer passion for painting and drawing is infused in her teaching: “Helping artists find and strengthen their own artistic voice is such an important and rewarding practice” commented Judy\, “And teaching with the Botanical Gardens is a wonderful partnership — I love working with students in this incredibly rich environment filled with natural inspiration!” Judy works in a variety of media herself\, with a particular love for watercolor\, oil and mixed media.
