SUMMARY:Cris Jacobs w/ The Way Down Wanderers
DESCRIPTION:Cris Jacobs w/ The Way Down Wanderers\nCris Jacobs\nFrom Baltimore comes Cris Jacobs — an unexpectedly gritty soul-blues singer and guitarist with outlaw country ethos. Blending a variety of musical traditions\, Jacobs creates a distinctive voice and sound of his own punctuated by emotive songwriting and explosive guitar playing. SUMMARY:Will Downing
DESCRIPTION:Will Downing\nKleinhans Music Hall & Soul of Buffalo Present:\nWill Downing\nwith Special Guest\, Buffalo NY’s own\nWILL HOLTON\nThursday\, November 14\, 2024\nKleinhans Music Hall\nDoors at 6:30PM / Show at 8PM\nAll Ages / Reserved Seating\nWill Downing will appear with his full band (not the BPO)\n\nCelebrating an insane 35 years in the “bizness” and with 27 records to his credit\, Grammy-nominated R&B | Smooth Jazz singer Will Downing will not be stopped! Flexing on his international appeal\, lead single “What Part of My Love” from his new record Soul Rising shot to the top of the UK Soul Chart Top 30 and parked there. With recordings for Island\, Mercury\, Verve\, Motown\, Sophisticated Soul\, and Shanachie Records\, Downing is an industry veteran whose silky baritone has been compared to Luther Vandross and Brian McKnight. \nAbout Will Downing \nCareer highlights include the #1 R&B chart-topping album After Tonight (2007) and Classique (2009)\, which peaked at #22 on the Billboard 100. Downing’s collaborators include a Who’s Who of R&B | Soul | Jazz headliners: Jennifer Holliday\, Kool & the Gang\, Gerald Albright\, Billy Ocean\, Regina Belle\, and Maysa\, among others. \nWill Downing was born and raised in a working-class family in Bed-Stuy\, Brooklyn. His father was a skycap at a local airport and his mother was a schoolteacher. As a teen\, Downing was a member of a school choir. At age 16\, he sang publishing house demos for songwriters who couldn’t sing well\, earning $50 each. \nIn 1988\, he signed a recording contract with 4th & B’way Records and released his first solo album Will Downing. It included a cover version of the John Coltrane classic\, “A Love Supreme\,” which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs record chart. Downing switched to Island Records for his second release\, Come Together as One (1989). \nDowning moved to Mercury Records for his fourth outing\, Love’s the Place to Be (1993). All the Man You Need\, released on Motown Records\, received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional R&B Album in 2000. It included “When You Need Me\,” a duet with Chante Moore. In 2002\, Downing received the International Association of African-American Music Diamond Award. \nIn 2023\, Will suffered a soul-crushing loss\, with the unexpected passing of his daughter Aron Siobhan Downing in January. As a father\, he was devastated…heartbroken. As an artist\, he sought solace and comfort through his craft\, facing the hurt head-on\, exploring multiple themes of love to begin healing. Persevering through the pain\, Downing’s soul is rising…literally! The Prince of Sophisticated Soul is proud to share his 7- song masterclass of triumph over tragedy\, Soul Rising! Although not a “concept” album\, the pieces of Soul Rising fit together beautifully as a single statement in honor and celebration of his eternal love for Siobhan.

SUMMARY:lespecial + Doom Flamingo
DESCRIPTION:lespecial + Doom Flamingo\nlespecial\nlespecial is redefining the term “power trio”.The multi-instrumentalists from Connecticut continue to push the boundaries of what a three-piece band is capable of both live and in the studio ahead of their latest album\, “Odd Times”. \nThe band’s signature blend of “heavy future groove” combines head banging metal riffage and surgical rhythmic precision with bone shaking 808s\, sub synths and ethereal vocal stylings for a dance floor that welcomes moshing\, dancing and hip swaying alike. Listeners are taken on a journey to the musical netherworld through esoteric soundscapes punctuated by raw\, primal power. \nOdd Times\, lespecial’s darkest and heaviest record to date\, is an enigmatic and compelling musical project that explores the ever-changing nature of time amidst isolation. With heavy riffs\, tribal drumming\, and hints of levity\, it’s a captivating journey crafted in collaboration with Havok’s David Sanchez. An intriguing blend of old-school metal and modern djent-inspired riffage awaits in this haunting sonic experience. \nDoom Flamingo\nDoom Flamingo is a multi-headed synth rock sexy-tet with a Jekyll and Hyde element to the songwriting. Top Gun guitar riffs and Miami Beach poolside lounge-vibes\, are all at once contrasted with eerie dark synth soundscapes reminiscent of old John Carpenter films. \nDoom Flamingo came together organically through friendships and past collaborations in their hometown of Charleston\, South Carolina and features dynamic vocals alongside a powerhouse of musicians and soaring instrumentation.

SUMMARY:Ryan Montbleau Band
DESCRIPTION:Ryan Montbleau Band\nA relentless road warrior and masterful wordsmith\, Ryan Montbleau has spent the better part of thirty years cultivating a devoted audience on the strength of his ecstatic live shows and exhilarating sonic versatility. He’s collaborated with artists as diverse as Trombone Shorty\, Galactic\, Steel Pulse\, Tall Heights\, Martin Sexton\, Anders Osborne\, and George Porter\, Jr; shared bills with the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Ani DiFranco\, Todd Snider\, The Wood Brothers\, Rodrigo y Gabriela\, and Mavis Staples; and racked up more than 150 million streams on Spotify alone. NPR’s Mountain Stage compared his “eloquent\, soulful songwriting” to Bill Withers and James Taylor\, while Relix celebrated his “poetic Americana\,” and The Boston Herald raved that “he’s made a career of confident\, danceable positivity.” \nMontbleau’s freewheeling new album finds him exploring the full spectrum of his influences like never before\, touching on folk\, rock\, funk\, soul\, hip-hop\, and reggae\, all with a preternatural ease that belies the intensely focused craftsmanship behind it. The songs are sprawling and unpredictable\, grappling with a modern world perpetually teetering on the edge of chaos\, but the performances are relentlessly optimistic\, insisting on hope and joy in the face of it all. The result is Montbleau’s most vulnerable and cathartic work yet\, an album that acknowledges the inevitability of doubt and pain while at the same time celebrating our limitless capacity for growth and love.
