SUMMARY:Reefer Madness
DESCRIPTION:Reefer Madness\nO’Connell & Company\nBook by Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney\nMusic by Dan Studney\nLyrics by Kevin Murphy \nThere is a new menace sweeping the nation\, ready to ensnare and seduce the youth and drag them down into a life of sin: REEFER MADNESS! In this hilarious\, over-the-top satire\, Jimmy\, a fine\, upstanding\, All-American boy’s life falls apart because of the evil reefer. When he is tricked into taking his first puff\, his life quickly spirals downward. His addiction leads him to debauchery\, sin\, theft\, and\, eventually\, murder. Reefer Madness is an irreverent parody of the classic 1930s instructional film full of camp\, hilarity\, mayhem\, and madness.

SUMMARY:Croce Plays Croce
DESCRIPTION:Kleinhans Music Hall is pleased to present\nCroce Plays Croce\n50th Anniversary Tour\nTickets are on sale now! \nA.J. Croce performs Croce Plays Croce\, a special night of music featuring a complete set of classics by his late father Jim Croce\, some of his own tunes\, and songs that influenced both him and his father. This special event features such timeless songs as “Operator”\, “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim”\, “Time in a Bottle” (a song written for A.J.)“\, Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy)”\, and “Lovers Cross”\, to name a few. \nThe Croce Plays Croce 50th Anniversary show features a legendary band (including drummer Gary Mallaber\, bassist David Barard\, guitar/violin James Pennebaker) and a moving multi-media presentation accompanying Jim’s songs (which on the previous tour included memorable hits\, “Operator (That’s Not the Way It Feels)”\, “Time in a Bottle\,” and others). It was fan-demand for more\, and the camaraderie that A.J. felt with the audience\, the players\, and the connection to his father’s timeless music that inspired A.J. to embark on the 50th Anniversary tour for 2023. “The audience reaction has been so great\,” says A.J. “The shows we did last year were not only met with a huge response\, but I learned so much about what works and what resonates\, we knew we had to keep going.” \nJim Croce was an American folk singer with a short-lived professional recording and touring career\, and decades of posthumous fame as one of the greatest songwriters and artists ever. With sales surpassing 50 million records\, including three #1 songs and 10 Top 10 hits\, Jim Croce’s short career and long-lived legacy are well-remembered through his era-defining standards like “Operator”\, “Time in a Bottle” and “Bad\, Bad Leroy Brown”. \nAbout A.J. Croce \nA.J. Croce’s 30-year touring and recording career has produced ten studio albums that have been released via both major and independent labels\, and have charted 20 Top 20 singles and all ten albums on the radio including on Top 40\, Americana\, and Blues. A virtuoso piano player\, he has performed at a TED Talk and gave a master class at the University of Barcelona. Croce has performed on major talk shows and news programs including The Late Show\, The Tonight Show\, The Today Show\, CNN\, MTV\, and VH1. He’s toured with such esteemed artists as Willie Nelson\, Lenny Kravitz\, Earth\, Wind\, and Fire\, and B.B. King. While his last album\, Just Like Medicine\, paired him with producer and soul legend Dan Penn and an all-star cast of players and guests like Vince Gill and Steve Cropper\, his new album was born of memories — of favorite artists and shows\, but mostly\, of late-night gatherings with groups of friends\, many of them fellow musicians\, with Croce at the piano taking requests. Croce revisits these musical evenings on By Request (out on Compass Records) with 12 personally curated covers that traverse decades and genres\, propelled by his spirited\, piano mastery and emotive vocals. With a rich catalog of original compositions A.J. first recorded and released a composition of his fathers with a never-before-recorded song “Name of the Game” on his Just Like Medicine release. In 2018 he covered the 1973 hit “I Got A Name” for a Goodyear commercial with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

SUMMARY:Justin Adams & Mauro Durante
DESCRIPTION:Kleinhans Music Hall is pleased to present\nJustin Adams & Mauro Durante\nKleinhans Music Hall is pleased to present Justin Adams & Mauro Durante coming to the Mary Seaton Room on Friday\, February 16\, 2024 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are on sale now to the public and start at $35. Music lovers can enjoy a 10% discount on the purchase of 4 or more tickets using code GROOVES at checkout. \nJustin Adams\, guitarist\, producer and composer with deep experience in African traditions and post-punk grooves\, in a new collaboration with Mauro Durante\, one of the leading players in the pizzica style of Southern Italy and leader of Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. \nAbout Justin Durante & Mauro Durante \nJustin Adams\, guitarist\, producer and composer\, has been a creator of wonders with Robert Plant in the Sensational Space Shifters. His production on landmark albums by Tinariwen and Rachid Taha highlights his feel for North African groove\, while his award-winning collaborations with Juldeh Camara linked griot tradition with raw blues spirit. His work with artists such as Jah Wobble and Sinead O’Connor was infused with the spirit of post-punk London\, while his solo guitar album Ribbons was cited by Songlines magazine among the top 50 albums of the past decade. \nThis new collaboration with Mauro Durante stems from a concert led by Ludovico Einaudi\, the legendary Notte de Taranta in Puglia\, where the two first played together\, recognizing kindred spirits in the trance rhythms of Taranta which transcend “melancholia” or the blues. Mauro Durante toured the world for many years with Ludovico Einaudi playing violin and frame drums. He is one of the leading players in the pizzica style of Southern Italy and leads Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino\, who have played great festivals all over the world. Last year they were featured in their own concert at the BBC Proms (where Justin Adams guested with them) and they won Best Group in the Songlines Music Awards. \nAbout Global Grooves \nThe Global Grooves music series\, aims to bridge cultures and ignite a shared passion for music. Through captivating performances which highlight a variety of cultures\, it celebrates the rich tapestry of musical traditions from around the world\, fostering cross-cultural understanding\, appreciation\, and unity among the beautifully diverse community of WNY. Kleinhans’ commitment to artistic excellence and cultural exploration drove them to curate a concert experience that transcends boundaries and enriches the human spirit.

SUMMARY:Couples Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Couples Therapy\nTrue fact: We all start out female in the womb. Don’t believe us guys\, just look at your chest – It’s the reason you have nipples. Has that sunk in? 22 of the 23 pairs of chromosomes between us are identical. In fact\, there are only about 78 genes that separate us. In Couples Therapy we explore and exploit these differences in all their magnificent and hilarious glory.\nCouples Therapy is a 90-minute theatrical show led by a pair of married\, relationship experts who dynamically take on several characters and skits throughout the performance. From start to finish the performers interact with the audience both directly as well as through response surveys that are completed prior to the show. It is truly a unique and clever combination of theatre\, stand-up comedy\, and improv that is as funny as it is insightful.\nAudiences go on a hilarious and interactive ride as the relationship experts attempt to help couples with their relationships\, but as the show wears on we see that they have more problems than their patients! \nAnd fear not guys\, this is not one of those beat down sessions on men. Instead\, we equally explore\, appreciate\, and laugh at the differences between men and women. Couples Therapy offers endless humor packed with practical relationship advice rooted in science and psychology (we really did our homework!) So strap in\, as we don’t just break the fourth wall\, we smash right through it!

SUMMARY:JIMKATA
DESCRIPTION:Jimkata w/ Special Guests return to Buffalo Iron Works on Saturday February 17th\, 2024! \nJimkata \nFour years after going on hiatus\, Jimkata is back with a renewed sense of purpose and an extraordinary new album. Recorded in Syracuse with producer Jason Randall\, Bonfires finds the trio digging deep and stretching their boundaries with bold\, intoxicating arrangements fueled by swirling synthesizers and anthemic hooks. The songs here are at once modern and classic\, blurring the lines between the organic and the electronic as they reckon with doubt\, struggle\, and perseverance in a search for truth and meaning. \nLike much of Jimkata’s catalog\, Bonfires delivers transcendence in tight\, dance floor-ready packages\, but there’s a sense of freedom at play that pushes the trio’s performances to new emotional heights\, a kind of liberation that can only come from learning to let go of expectation and embrace the moment. \n“I think the time away brought us all more maturity\, more patience\, an ability to see the bigger picture\,” says singer/guitarist Evan Friedell. “We all gained a lot of perspective on life and the value of being in a band together.” \nIndeed\, the heart and soul of Jimkata has always been the enduring bonds between Friedell and his longtime bandmates\, guitarist/keyboardist Aaron Gorsch and drummer Packy Lunn. Pals since middle school\, the three launched Jimkata in 2005 while attending Ithaca College\, where they quickly found an audience for their relentlessly feel-good performances\, which grew from local house parties to club\, theater\, and festival dates on the strength of a series of critically acclaimed albums. Popdose hailed the band’s “bubbly sweetness\,” while American Songwriter praised their “organic chemistry\,” and Relix raved that the trio’s sound “proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.” \nBuffalo Iron Works\n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $15 ADV/$20 DOS\nDoors: 8:00pm\nShow: 9:00pm\nAges: 18+
