He dreamed up Camp Everything\, a mobile art installation\, and performance\, drawing on nostalgic memories of 1980s summer camps. The vibrant float and its legion of happy campers will take a hike in the Pride Parade and Festival Sunday\, June 2\, at 11 am. The route starts at Elmwood Avenue and Forest Avenue; ends at Allen Street. \nThen head to the Festival at Canalside for camp crafts with the Burchfield Penney education team from 12:00 to 4:00 pm! Find us with our friends from Explore and More in the Pride Jr. tent! \nSpearheaded by the Burchfield Penney\, in collaboration with Torn Space Theater Company\, and with generous financial support from the Cullen Foundation\, the Camp Everything project will span three years\, appearing at various cultural events. Torn Space cast the performers and will provide stage direction\, sound design\, costume assistance\, and choreography. Weekley also engaged several local artists\, including Mallory Mordaunt and Esther Niesen\, and New York-based maker Randy Carfagno Productions\, to help bring the installation to life. \nGet a selfie with the Camp Everything quirky cast of characters whenever you spot them around town! After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival\, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom. \nThe King of Queens\, which premiered in 1998\, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing\, and it garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in\, and executive produced The Crew\, a sitcom set in the world of NASCAR and is currently developing a single camera comedy (both for Netflix). \nJames brought his stand-up act to TV with Sweat the Small Stuff\, a one-hour special for Comedy Central. Kevin James and Ray Romano executive produced and starred in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach; a documentary about the Pebble Beach Pro Am Golf Tournament that was nominated for a Sports Emmy. His second comedy special Never Don’t Give Up premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim. \nJames was the producer\, co-writer\, and star of the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2\, Zookeeper\, and Here Comes The Boom. Molly Peacock’s insights and empathy with her subject bring to life both Mary Hiester Reid and her luscious flower paintings.” ― Charlotte Gray\, author of The Massey Murder \nMolly Peacock uncovers the history of neglected painter Mary Hiester Reid\, a trailblazing artist who refused to choose between marriage and a career. \nBorn into a patrician American family in the middle of the nineteenth century\, Mary Hiester Reid was determined to be a painter and left behind women’s design schools to enter the art world of men. After she married fellow artist George Reid\, she returned with him to his home country of Canada. There she set about creating over 300 stunning still life and landscape paintings\, inhabiting a rich\, if sometimes difficult\, marriage\, coping with a younger rival\, exhibiting internationally\, and becoming well-reviewed. She studied in Paris\, traveled in Spain\, and divided her time between Canada and the United States where she lived among America’s Arts and Crafts movement titans. She left slender written records; rather\, her art became her diary and Flower Diary unfolds with an artwork for each episode of her life. \nIn this sumptuous and precisely researched biography\, celebrated poet and biographer Molly Peacock brings Mary Hiester Reid\, foremother of painters such as Georgia O’Keefe\, out of the shadows\, revealing a fascinating\, complex woman who insisted on her right to live as a married artist\, not as a tragic heroine. Peacock uses her poet’s skill to create a structurally inventive portrait of this extraordinary woman whom modernism almost swept aside\, weaving threads of her own marriage with Hiester Reid’s\, following the history of empathy and examining how women manage the demands of creativity and domesticity\, coping with relationships\, stoves\, and steamships\, too. How do you make room for art when you must go to the market to buy a chicken for dinner? This layered memoir and biography examines the balancing act of female creativity and domesticity in the life of Mary Hiester Reid\, a painter who produced over three hundred stunning\, emotive floral still lifes and landscapes. This lush and beautifully produced treatise also tracks Peacock’s own marriage with the late Joyce scholar Michael Groden. \nFLOWER DIARY is a companion of sorts to THE PAPER GARDEN: MRS. DELANY BEGINS HER LIFE’S WORK AT 72\, a Canadian bestseller\, named a Book of the Year by The Economist\, The Globe and Mail\, The Irish Times\, The London Evening Standard and Booklist\, published in the US\, UK\, Ireland\, Australia and New Zealand. “Like her glorious and multilayered collages\, Delany is so vivid a character she almost jumps from the page\,” Andrea Wulf wrote in The New York Times Book Review. \nMolly’s most recent book of poems is THE ANALYST (W.W. Norton & Company) where she takes up a unique task: telling the story of her psychotherapist who survived a stroke by reconnecting with her girlhood talent for painting.
