SUMMARY:A Gospel Symphony Celebration with Donald Lawrence
DESCRIPTION:A Gospel Symphony Celebration with Donald Lawrence\nDonald Lawrence wears many musical hats\, including songwriter\, producer\, and recording artist. Over a 30-year career\, the multiple Grammy and Stellar Award winner has collaborated with marquee names in the Gospel\, R&B\, Hip Hop\, Pops\, and Broadway worlds. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind performance with the BPO and the voices of the Buffalo United Community Choir under the baton of the equally accomplished composer\, orchestrator\, and educator\, Dr. Henry Panion III. \nProgram\nDr. Henry Panion III\, conductor\nDonald Lawrence\, vocals\nBuffalo United Community Choir \nRide on King Jesus\nPresence of the Lord\nThe Blessing of Abraham\nBless Me (The Prayer of Jabez)\nBack II Eden\nGlory from Selma \n–INTERMISSION– \nIn the Sanctuary\nProcession of the Levites\nAnthem of Praise\nTotal Praise\nJehovah Sabaoth (God of Angel Armies)\nThe Best is Yet to Come \nThis performance features songs composed by iconic Gospel artists including Richard Smallwood\, Kurt Carr\, Byron Cage\, and featured guest Donald Lawrence. Orchestral arrangements provided by Dr. Henry Panion\, III\, guest conductor. \nAbout Donald Lawrence\nSongwriter. Producer. Composer. Music/choir director. Recording artist. Those words capture the multifaceted essence of Donald Lawrence. The guiding force behind such No. 1 hits as “Encourage Yourself\,” “Back II Eden\,” and “The Blessing of Abraham\,” Lawrence has also been the producing force behind No. 1 songs like “Blessed and Highly Favored” by the Clark Sisters and “Lift Him Up\,” “Souled Out\,” and “Every Praise” by Bishop Hezekiah Walker. \nDonald Lawrence is one of the most influential figures in modern gospel music\, with an impressive career in the gospel industry that has spanned more than 25 years. Over the course of that time\, Lawrence resurrected and led the Tri-City singers\, who were noted as one of the best choirs in the world\, and found much individual success as a solo artist with multiple #1 Billboard hits and albums. He has also worked on numerous films and television programs\, providing his musical services. \nOn top of over 30 Stellar Award wins and 4 Dove Award wins\, Lawrence has been nominated for 18 Grammy awards over the course of his career\, including a Grammy win in 2008. Lawrence has also served as the face of Verizon’s How Sweet The Sound national tour\, the Musical Director and headlining act for the McDonald’s Inspirational Gospel Tour\, and the Music Supervisor for BeBe Winan’s hit theatrical production\, Born For This. \nIn 2019\, Donald and The Tri-City Singers released their 25-year anniversary project\, Goshen. The highly anticipated album was met with much praise and acclaim. It earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Gospel Album\,” and the album’s hit single\, “Deliver Me. This Is My Exodus\,” which went to #1 on the Billboard charts\, was also named Billboard’s “most played Gospel song of 2019.” Furthermore\, Goshen won 5 Stellar Awards\, including the Song of the Year award for “Deliver Me. This Is My Exodus.” \nLawrence has stayed busy since the release of Goshen. In the past few years he has worked on a song with the Hamilton cast that featured former President Barack Obama and also performed for President Joe Biden’s Inaugural Prayer Breakfast\, to name just a few of many projects. \nLawrence has also helped relaunch the How Sweet The Sound tour\, and has filled his mentor’s shoes by taking over the Music & Arts charitable organization started by the late Edwin Hawkins. He recently relaunched this organization with an amazing global conference in London\, and looks forward to the future of this organization. \nLawrence continues to produce new music\, like his highly anticipated tribute project to Twinkie Clark\, Power-Reimagined. “It’s said that the music you do is where you’ve lived\,” says Lawrence of his creative journey. “What I do isn’t contrived. I don’t think in terms of genre or religious perspective. It comes from being honest. I just honor the gift and purpose I was given to touch the world and inspire. And people have paid attention to that.” \nAbout Henry Panion III\nHenry Panion III\, PhD\, holds the distinguished titles of University Professor and Director of Music Technology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He holds degrees in music education and music theory from Alabama A&M University and Ohio State University\, respectively. In 2023\, Dr. Panion was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. \nAbout the Buffalo United Community Choir\nThe Buffalo United Community Choir (BUCC) was formed in January of 2023\, with a goal of unifying the Buffalo-Niagara region by gathering voices from across the community to sing and work together. Olive Baptist Churches\, St. Joseph University Parish\, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus\, the Community Music School\, and many more. \nThe group is led by three exceptional music directors: Ella E. Robinson\, Karen Saxon\, and George Brown\, with assistance from Adam Luebke and Phillip McMullen of the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus. The BUCC debuted in February for Buffalo United for Black History at First Shiloh Baptist Church\, performed at the Johnnie B. SUMMARY:“ALL BAD TOUR” – NICK SHOULDERS AND THE OKAY CRAWDAD
DESCRIPTION:Twenty6 Productions and DSP Present: \n“All Bad Tour” – Nick Shoulders and The Okay Crawdad on Friday October 28th\, 2023! \nNick Shoulders \nAll Bad\, the latest album from Nick Shoulders\, ultimately encapsulates everything that makesShoulders’ inimitable form of country music so vital: a heady balance of dazzling musicianship and punk defiance\, coupled with gritty eccentricity and a generational connection to the roots of the genre. With a singing style inherited from his family’s vocal lineage\, Nick’s songs achieve the rare feat of imparting difficult truths while inciting a certain joyful abandon\, balancing a sound forged by years of hard travel with a heartfelt reverence for the origins of country music. In the spirit of HazelDickens and Jimmy Driftwood\, the incisive yet wildly jubilant All Bad vocally objects to the reckless destruction of the natural landscape and development run rampant\, while still offering plenty of joy and dance-ready rhythms. Spanning a variety of early country styles\, the album’s infectious harmonies shine alongside everything from jangling cajun waltzes to surf-rock infused bluesy ballads–all tied together by a voice seemingly out of place in this century\, yet ever ready to speak up about its problems. \nReleased via Gar Hole Records (a label founded and co-owned by Shoulders)\, All Bad marks the first LP made with his longtime band\, the Okay Crawdad\, since 2019’s premier full-length Okay\,Crawdad and their subsequent pandemic-imposed hiatus. After writing most of the album from the front seat of a tour van\, the Fayetteville\, AR-based musician and bandmates Grant D’Aubin (harmonies/bass)\, Cheech Moosekian (drums) and Jack Studer (lead guitar) recorded the album in a home studio on the banks of the Mississippi River with New Orleans collaborators Ross Farbe and Sam Doores. \nSurrounded by a singing style passed down from a time before microphones\, Nick’s childhood of bird call whistles and an over-exposure to southern gospel music eventually steered him toward an adolescence drumming for metal and punk bands\, and subsequent years as an active illustrator and member of Arkansas’s heavy music scene. After numerous personal calamities and a growing obsession with the rural musical traditions of his lifelong home\, Shoulders left the Ozarks and lived out of his van\, singing on the street corners of the west while slowly being drawn to the vibrance of the New Orleans dance and busking world. After forming in early 2018\, the ‘Okay Crawdad’ band flourished briefly in the wildly talented south Louisiana alt-country scene\, culminating in the release of ‘Rather Low’ by the popular YouTube channel Western AF\, catapulting Nick’s songs to a vastly wider audience right as Covid-19 and lockdowns ensued. Since then\, a rapid ascension into the world of touring music has seen Nick playing alongside the likes of Sierra Ferrell and at major festivals such as Stagecoach. With the hard rhythms and heavenly melodies of their newest release\,All Bad\, the band manages to concoct a body of work that is at turns sublimely freewheeling and profoundly illuminating\, yet primed to permanently warp the listener’s perspective to glorious effect. \nBuffalo Iron Works \n49 Illinois St Buffalo\, NY 14203 \nTickets: $20 ADV/$25 DOS \nDoors: 7:00pm \nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+

Upon coming back to live in New York City\, he went to work as an A&R producer for RCA Records\, but shortly thereafter began to work in the Broadway theatre. His first major credit was the title song for the play Butterflies are Free\, which was eventually used in the movie version as well. \nIn 1971\, he wrote the music and new lyrics for Godspell\, for which he won two Grammys among other awards. This was followed by the English texts\, in collaboration with Leonard Bernstein\, for Bernstein’s Mass\, which opened the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington\, D.C. SUMMARY:Rachmaninoff Festival: Piano No. 3
DESCRIPTION:Rachmaninoff Festival: Piano No. 3\nOur two-weekend festival recognizing the 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s birth is anchored by the return of young phenom\, Alexander Malofeev performing the stamina-challenging\, imposing Third Piano Concerto in a program that includes the composer’s hypnotic Vocalise and the haunting tone poem\, Isle of the Dead. \nThe Coffee Concert Series is presented by Highmark \nProgram\nJoAnn Falletta\, conductor\nAlexander Malofeev\, piano \nRACHMANINOFF Vocalise\nRACHMANINOFF Isle of the Dead\nRACHMANINOFF Piano Concerto No. 3 \nAbout Alexander Malofeev\nThe young “Russian genius” (Corriere della Sera) came to international prominence when\, in 2014\, he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at age thirteen. “Contrary to what could be expected of a youngster…he demonstrated not only high technical accuracy but also an incredible maturity. Crystal clear sounds and perfect balance revealed his exceptional ability” (Amadeus). Malofeev has quickly established himself as one of the most prominent pianists of his generation. His performances have garnered high praise from critics\, with publications such as Der Standard declaring his debut at the Musikverein as a “world piano revolution.” \nFor the 2023-2024 season\, highlights include Malofeev’s return to the Bournemouth Symphony for a multi-concert residency\, a solo tour in China\, and a European tour with Filarmonica della Scala and Riccardo Chailly\, as well as performances at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw\, Munich Isarphilharmonie\, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg\, and Carnegie Hall in New York. He continues to perform with the best orchestras: the National Symphony Orchestra\, Lucerne Festival Orchestra\, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra\, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under Kent Nagano\, and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under Marin Alsop\, among many others. \nMaestro Riccardo Chailly said about the pianist: “I first heard Malofeev when Valery Gergiev performed with him at the Teatro alla Scala…He was only 14\, and he amazed me with his talent. Because that is not just a child prodigy – he is very young\, but already possesses depth and technical abilities\, and also musical and mnemonic\, which makes him an excellent interpreter of the third concerto of Rachmaninoff\, which is a problem for many pianists in the world.” (Corriere della Sera). \nAlexander was born in Moscow in October 2001. Now residing in Berlin\, he continues to give concerts in Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) – where he opened the 30th anniversary concert of the renowned Meester Pianists series – Teatro alla Scala (Milan)\, Musikverein Wien\, Kurhaus Wiesbaden (Germany)\, Alte Oper Frankfurt (Germany)\, Munich Herkulessaal (Germany)\, Tanglewood (USA)\, Philharmonie de Paris\, Philharmonie Luxembourg\, Theater of the Champs-Élysées (France)\, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Roma and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (Italy)\, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (Australia)\, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco\, Bunka Kaikan Theatre in Tokyo\, Seoul Art Center\, Shanghai Oriental Art Center\, National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing)\, and the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman. \nOver the years\, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra\, Boston Symphony Orchestra\, Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia\, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra\, Lucerne Festival Orchestra\, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala\, RAI National Symphony Orchestra\, Korean Symphony Orchestra\, Verbier Festival Orchestra\, Orchestre National de Lille\, and many others. \nAlexander Malofeev regularly appears with the most distinguished conductors onstage today\, including Riccardo Chailly\, Mikhail Pletnev\, Myung-Whun Chung\, Charles Dutoit\, Michael Tilson Thomas\, JoAnn Falletta\, Alain Altinoglu\, Susanna Mälkki\, Yannick Nézet-Séguin\, Lionel Bringuier\, Alondra de la Parra\, Kazuki Yamada\, Vasily Petrenko\, Juraj Valcuha\, Kirill Karabits\, Andris Poga\, Fabio Luisi\, and others. \nMalofeev was a guest of world-famous music festivals and series such as Verbier Festival\, International de Piano de La Roque d’Anthéron Festival\, Rheingau Music Festival (Germany)\, Tanglewood Music Festival and Aspen Music Festival (USA)\, Tsinandali Festival (Georgia)\, Master Pianist Series (Amsterdam)\, and the Celebrity Series of Boston. \nIn addition to his first prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians\, he has won numerous awards and prizes at international competitions and festivals\, including the Grand Prix of the International Competition for Young Pianists Grand Piano Competition\, and the Premio Giovane Talento Musicale dell’anno 2017 (Best Young Musician of 2017). SUMMARY:MUST DIE! – VAMPIRE WEAPON TOUR
DESCRIPTION:MNM Presents\nMust Die!\nVampire Weapon Tour\nFriday November 3\nBuffalo Iron Works\nw/ special guest Tisoki\nplus Togeki\, Smileysfate\nMust Die!\nmustdiemusic.com\ntwitter.com/mustdiemusic\ninstagram.com/mustdiemusic\nsoundcloud.com/mustdiemusic \nActing as a rebellious force and the main antagonist of bass music\, there’s no one like MUST DIE!. Between his eccentric state of mind and cutting-edge mettle in the studio\, MUST DIE! caters to an audience with a penchant for forward-thinking sounds that will both challenge and dignify dubstep as we know it. With nearly 10 years under his belt\, MUST DIE! began building his cult with consistent releases on bass music’s most notable labels\, leading him to represent Never Say Die’s prestigious roster. \nHailed as a trendsetter within electronic music\, MUST DIE! reaches beyond the scope of dubstep with each release — his 2014 debut record\, Death & Magic\, set the precedent for his future in dance music\, offering listeners a new take on genres including dubstep\, electro house\, drum and bass\, and more. The start of 2019 established a new era of MUST DIE! with the release of his genre-bending singles “BLISS 2K” and “CHAOS.” Both singles landing at #1 on the Beatport Dubstep Top 100 and reaching over 1 million streams on Spotify\, MUST DIE! sparked a new trend in bass music\, introducing classic rave elements and hard dance components to his catalogue. This year\, MUST DIE! has continued his trend of raising the bar within dance music as he skyrockets off the back of two huge collaborations with Eptic and Zomboy – “Skill Check” and “Last One Standing”. Separating himself from his peers through excellence in production and creativity that simply can’t be copied\, MUST DIE! maintains his own lane and leads the up-and-comers to follow. \nThe unrivalled nature of MUST DIE!’s signature sound and personal brand has taken him to audiences all over the world\, headlining a number of tours through North America\, Europe\, Asia\, Australia\, and more — MUST DIE! has become a global phenomenon through his personal touch in the studio and a loyal fanbase. With a devastatingly powerful discography and a brand that defies the scene\, MUST DIE! remains undefeated. \nw/ special guest \nTisoki\ntisoki.com \nTisoki is a producer from the UK\, whose prominence in the electronic music scene has been proven by his impressive catalogue of dancefloor anthems and melody driven songs alike. Sampling his taste from a selection of different styles\, Tisoki’s pallet has led to creations that exercise his prowess in dubstep and other bass heavy genres\, whilst also indulging in music of a more eclectic form. \nalso feat. \nTogeki\nlinktr.ee/togekidub \nSmileysfate\nsoundcloud.com/smileysfate \nHosted by\nmnmpresents.com
