From cheering for the Buffalo Bills with a Genesee Light in hand to sharing growlers of the latest local brews during Thanksgiving dinner, Joel and Dylan have always been known as the go-to guys when it comes to ensuring that no glass remains empty. It was during a last-minute holiday shopping frenzy in 2017 that Joel, struggling for gift ideas, stumbled upon a “Make Your Own Beer” kit. Little did he know that this serendipitous find would ignite the spark that set the brothers on a brewing journey like no other.
Locked away in the coat closet, that gifted box awaited its moment until a blizzard-like day arrived. Fueling their adventurous spirits, Joel and Dylan decided to seize the opportunity. Firing up the stove, they eagerly crafted their very first batch of BriarBrothers beer. What began as an experiment soon turned into a labor of love, with batch after batch improving and fueling the brothers’ dream of opening their own brewery.
Located just south of Downtown Buffalo, BriarBrothers Brewing Company has found its place within the historic Silos at Elk Street. These impressive structures were once the backbone of the region’s brewing industry, supplying breweries across New York and Pennsylvania with brewers malt for decades. Today, they stand as a testament to the rich brewing heritage that the Betti brothers proudly embrace.
