About Beer Kind Brewing
Beer Kind Brewing proudly holds the title of Ken-Ton’s first brewery, bringing an innovative and family-friendly beer experience to the local community. Operating under a 5-barrel brewing system, Beer Kind Brewing offers a self-pour tap wall featuring 20 taps. This unique setup gives customers the freedom to explore a wide range of craft beverages, pouring as little or as much as they like and paying only for what they pour. Whether you’re an avid craft beer enthusiast or just looking to try something new, Beer Kind Brewing is a welcoming space where community and creativity come together.
Meet the Owners
Beer Kind Brewing is owned and operated by husband-and-wife duo Alex and Jen Buckley, who live in the Town of Tonawanda. Together, they bring a shared passion for beer and a commitment to creating a fun and inclusive environment for their patrons.
Alex Buckley is the brewery’s brewmaster and the creative force behind its craft beers. His brewing journey began in 2010 when his mother Tina brought home a homebrew kit from Williams Sonoma. After crafting his first IPA with his dad and brother, Alex was hooked on brewing. Since then, he’s brewed over 200 batches of beer, earned numerous homebrew awards, and became a certified beer judge through the Beer Judge Certification Program. His extensive experience includes working as a part-time brewer and tap keeper at 42 North Brewing, running the beer podcast Your Brain on Hops, and co-founding the family business Traveling Growler.
Jen Buckley brings her professional expertise and love of community to the brewery. With over 10 years of client and project management experience as a Product Manager for a global insurance consultant, Jen seamlessly manages the operational side of the business. Outside of work, she has been a dedicated volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, maintaining a five-year match with her “little.” Jen is also a published children’s author; her book Goodnight Buffalo is sold on Amazon and in local shops across Western New York. Her passion for great beer and hands-on involvement in the brewing process make her an indispensable part of Beer Kind Brewing’s success.
