#OnThisDay In 1934, as laborers were digging a pond for the State Fish Hatchery in Randolph they unearthed a mammoth’s bones.

The specimen found in Randolph, NY is one of the most complete fossils to be found in the entire state of New York. The fossil is now kept at the State Museum in a climate controlled environment to prevent deterioration.
