#OnThisDay In 1869, The Buffalo Daily Courier Newspaper begins publishing. In 1926, the company merged with The Buffalo Morning Express to form the Buffalo Courier-Express. The company began publishing until 1982 due to a being edged out by The Buffalo Evening News, which became The Buffalo News and an failed attempt by Rupert Murdoch to acquire the Courier-Express, blocked by local Newspaper Guild. A majority of their media was donated to the Buffalo History Museum and resides in Buffalo State’s Butler Library.
