#OnThisDay In 1929, Buffalo’s Central Terminal was dedicated. Also known as the New York Central Terminal, this complex used to serve as a transportation hub for the Northeast. The building touts beautiful art-deco architecture on both the interior and exterior.
Unfortunately, the station closed in 1979 and has been somewhat vacant since. Many different companies and groups have bonded together to restore the building and surrounding campus to its former glory. Although their hearts are in the right place, no one has been successful in restoring the building, let alone being open safely to general public.
The space is not completely unused. The Beau Fleuve Festival held in August has been held at the Central Terminal for the past few years. Have you ever gotten the chance to step inside the Terminal? Are you old enough to remember when it was open?
