#OnThisDay In 1901, The New York State Building informally opens at the Pan-American Exposition. The building was designed in the Greek Doric style, inspired by the Athens Parthenon. It was to match the Albright Art Gallery being built across the water which was designed in the same style, inspired by the Parthenon on the Acropolis.
The building, unlike many during the Pan-American Exposition, was built the outlast the event. Outlast the Pan-American Exposition it certainly did, as it has served as the home to the Buffalo History Museum since 1902.
