#OnThisDay In 1960, Roger Woodward, a 7-year old boy survives going over the Niagara Falls. Woodward was just wearing a life jacket and swim trunks. Roger and his sister Deanne had been throw from a boat as it capsized. Deanne was plucked out of the water just about 6 meters away from the edge of the Falls by two men. Unable to get to Robert in time he was thrown over the Falls, surviving the improbable.
The event was known as “The Woodward Miracle”, simply due to the sheer miracle that the boy survived. Robert and his sister Deanne came back to the Falls numerous times to tell their tale. Even one time, Deanne finally got to meet the men who saved her decades earlier.
