#OnThisDay In 1972, Buffalonian Madeline Davis becomes the first openly gay person to address at a national political convention. Davis was elected as a delegate for New York’s 37th Congressional District for candidate George McGovern. Davis was also one of the founders of the Mattachine Society, the very first gay rights organization in Western New York.
