Today, we commemorate the 156th Juneteenth – a day that symbolizes freedom, progress and liberation for African Americans in the United States. On June 19th 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was enacted, enslaved people in Texas were informed of their newfound liberty. This remarkable event is now honored each year through Juneteenth celebrations across the country.
It serves as an important reminder to reflect on our history and come together to fight for racial justice and equity. Let us all join in this celebration of freedom and strive towards creating a more equitable future.
