#OnThisDay In 2015, Gigi’s Restaurant is destroyed by fire overnight. Blondine “Gigi” Harvin ran the popular restaurant for years, becoming integral to surrounding communities for decades. The restaurant attempted to reopen in February of 2019 at a different location on Northland, opening as “Gigi’s Northland” but unfortunately only lasted a few weeks.
Gigi Harvin passed away a month before the reopening and her legacy to Buffalo can still be felt to this day. The restaurant’s legacy was immortalized by Buffalo native Westside Gunn’s track of the same name, “Gigi’s”.
