In 1947, Art Deco painter and former president of the Buffalo Society of Artists, Alexander O. Levy passes away. Born in 1881 in Bonn, Germany, Levy moved to Buffalo in 1909 after studying in Cincinnati. Levy was a prominent commercial illustrator and artist, notably serving as the art director for the Larkin Company. His paintings helped develop a particular style of Art Deco and his work can be seen at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
