Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is a nationally recognized, award-winning nonprofit theatre company based in Buffalo, NY. Dedicated to thought-provoking storytelling and passionate artistry, RLTP challenges audiences with bold and imaginative performances that explore both timely and timeless issues. A Rich History in Buffalo’s Theatre Scene
Founded in 2003, RLTP has grown from its early performances at Buffalo’s New Phoenix Theater to establishing its own state-of-the-art venue at 456 Main Street in downtown Buffalo. This modern theater space features stadium-style seating, a fully accessible ground-level layout, and a recently expanded 1,600-square-foot lounge with a full cocktail bar, providing a comfortable and engaging environment for audiences.
RLTP has played a key role in Buffalo’s theater resurgence, collaborating with organizations such as Shea’s Performing Arts Center, MusicalFare Theatre, and Irish Classical Theatre Company to bring large-scale productions to the stage. Notable performances include The Three Musketeers, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Murder on the Orient Express.
Championing New and Established Voices
As a proud member of the National New Play Network and a recipient of the prestigious National Theatre Company Grant from the American Theatre Wing, RLTP is dedicated to developing the canon of contemporary voices. The company produces new and notable works from both regional and national playwrights, ensuring fresh and impactful storytelling.
The RLTP Ensemble provides a home base for exceptional local theater artists, while the Buffalo’s Own program welcomes nationally acclaimed artists with Buffalo roots back to collaborate. Additionally, the American Theatre Masters Series brings distinguished theater professionals—including Broadway directors, playwrights, and actors—to engage with and inspire the local community.

RLTP is deeply invested in creating an equitable and inclusive theater culture. Through its Bridge Program, the company offers a paid, hands-on internship for artists of color, providing career-building opportunities in all aspects of theater production.
