- Buffalo’s First Book: Buffalo’s first book, The French Convert, was published in October of 1812 by the Salisbury press.
- The October Surprise: In 2006, a lake effect snow storm hit Buffalo and dumped about 22.6 inches of snow within 24 hours. This storm was the sixth greatest snowfall ever recorded in Buffalo.
- Buffalo’s Harbor: Samuel Wilkeson had the idea to construct Buffalo’s harbor in 1819 and became the western terminus of the Erie Canal in 1825.
