#OnThisDay In 1811, the first issue of the Buffalo Gazette is published. The Buffalo Gazette which was founded by the Salisbury brothers, Smith and Hezekiah, was the first newspaper in the area. The newspaper continued to print until 1818 and was succeeded by the Niagara Patriot and eventual Buffalo Patriot.
