#OnThisDay Back in 1978, The New York State Health Department finally confirms Love Canal in Niagara Falls is a health hazard. The calls from members of the community surrounding Love Canal were finally answered, after years of protest and cries for the pollution to cease.
The area was portioned off becoming the Love Canal Emergency Declaration Area. The ripples of this disastrous oversight fueled by corporate greed are still felt to this day.
