#OnThisDay In 1941, Curtiss-Wright’s Airport Plant #2 is dedicated. The plant stood right next to the airport on Genesee Street and later housed Westinghouse production.

The Curtiss-Wright Plant was pivotal in the production of P-40 and C-46 fighter planes that were used during World War II. The plant was eventually demolished in 1999 to make room for the current airport to extend their terminal, tarmac and add an additional runway.
