#OnThisDay In 1891, Father Baker discovers natural gas on the Our Lady of Victory property. Intially spurred by high energy bills, Baker set out to find a natural gas spring on the property. Following several days with no luck, many nicknamed the venture “Father Baker’s Folly” before the eventually found the gas. Following the discovery of the gas well, it was named the Victoria Gas Well.
