Thinking quickly, Morgan and his men removed the planking from the wooden bridge that crossed over the Scajaquada Creek, to prevent the over 600 British soldiers from crossing onto the mainland.

The British attempted three times, all unsuccessful, to cross the creek or replace the boards. Ultimately, each attempt was thwarted by the U.S. forces, despite being largely outnumbered. The British retreated back into Canada following this battle.
