#OnThisDay In 1895, The Ellicott Club of Buffalo is incorporated. The club was intially located on the top floor of the Ellicott Building. The club was formed to promote common welfare and the interests of the community, as well as providing a space to lounge and utilize for meetings, parties and more. The Ellicott Club had a new clubhouse built in the 1920s along Niagara Square. This building was named The Buffalo Athletic Club, which lasted for over half a century, possibly better known by their abbreviation “BAC”. The building located in Niagara Square still stands and is utilized by multiple businesses.
