#OnThisDay In 1913, The Husted Mill & Grain Elevator is destroyed by an explosion. The cause of the explosion isn’t quite known but grain dust is quite flammable and there is a lot of static electricity in a factory, especially a early 1900s one. The explosion claimed the lives of about 40 workers, injuring another 80 or so. The blast was strong enough that it hit a passing train. This is the most deadly fire in all of WNY’s history.
