#OnThisDay In 2011, The State of New York passes the Marriage Equality Act, legalizing Marriage Equality, making same-sex marriage legal in the Empire State. At the time, New York was the largest populated state to do so.
With New York always being at the forefront of Gay rights, especially considering Stonewall occuring decades earlier, the passing of legislature was long overdue.
