#OnThisDay In 2006, The October Surprise Snowstorm as snow falls in the afternoon, continuing into the morning of the 13th. A majority of tree leaves hadn’t fallen yet, making it a lot easier for snow to bring down trees and their branches. This “surprise” lef to power outages across WNY, estimating that almost one million lost power. The snowstorm dumped 22.6 inches at the airport, which is the most ever recorded there.
What are your memories of The October Suprise like? I remember having to trek through the tall snow in the middle of the street with my mother and brothers to get to my aunt’s nearby which had power.
