#OnThisDay In 1940, Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, more familiarly known as “The Aud” opens. It served as the home for the Buffalo Sabres and Braves, as well as Canisius basketball games, previous hockey teams and many musical titans performing there. Unfortunately, The Aud closed in 1996 and ultimately was demolished in 2009. The former site remains largely underdeveloped, despite being downtown and adjacent to the resurgent Canalside park.
