#OnThisDay In 1937, War Memorial Stadium, familiarly known as “The Rockpile”, opens. It originally opened as Roesch Memorial Stadium. Many important Buffalo events occured here, with the Buffalo Bions playing there, the Buffalo Bills won an AFL title there and the film, The Natural, was filmed there.
The stadium was mostly demolished in 1988, with two entrances being preserved, which can still be seen there today!
