#OnThisDay In 1986, The Concorde of British Airways lands in Buffalo. It arrived at the Greater Buffalo International Airport (now known as the Buffalo Niagara International Airport) as a part of a promotional event. Large crowds gathered at the airport and along the highway to hear the roar of the Concorde’s engines, witness its speed and sleek design.
The Concorde is one of the two supersonic passenger airliners to ever exist, with the Soviet Tupolev Tu-144 being the other one. The average ticket price to ride the Concorde was about $12,000! The Concorde flew commercially from 1976 to 2003.
Do you have any memories of when the Concorde came to Buffalo? Have you ever seen on in a museum?
