#OnThisDay In 1851, Buffalo Female Academy opens. The school was started as a place where the daughters of Buffalo’s elites could receive a quality education that was equal to their male counterparts. The school eventually renamed themselves to Buffalo Seminary in 1889.
In 1953, Buffalo Seminary inherited the Larkin House and Larkin Field along the Bidwell Parkway system from the Larkin and Kellogg families. Buffalo Sem, as it is known now, still operates out of the same space.
