A newspaper that had been a Buffalo staple for over a century at that point, Cowles Media decided to shutter the paper following a change in leadership. The decision was also largely influenced following the vote by Buffalo’s Newspaper Guild to oppose and deny a sale of The Express to Rupert Murdoch and his news empire.
