About Challenger Learning Center of Lockport
The Challenger Learning Center is dedicated to fostering a scientifically literate society while preparing future leaders to enhance the quality of life worldwide. This commitment is realized not only through practical teaching methods but also by leveraging vision, inspiration, and innovation.
The center’s mission focuses on engaging students and teachers in dynamic, hands-on exploration and discovery experiences that enhance knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). By doing so, it seeks to inspire students to explore careers in these fields while enabling them to develop and apply essential life skills.
One of its primary objectives is to deliver real-world, interactive educational experiences to learners of all ages throughout Western New York. This includes conducting simulated missions for school groups as a capstone activity tied to interdisciplinary classroom curricula, designed to align with Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and 21st Century Learning Skills.
Additionally, the Challenger Learning Center is committed to enhancing the quality of education in Western New York by offering state-of-the-art training, professional development opportunities, and curriculum resources for educators. Another key objective is to spark student interest in STEM careers by raising awareness of the diverse opportunities available within these fields.
