About Williamsville Stampede

In 2016, a group of families came together to create Stampede, a USA Field Hockey Member Club dedicated to offering year-round field hockey training in Western New York. Formed as a not-for-profit organization, Stampede provides high-level training while keeping costs affordable by utilizing local facilities such as the North Amherst Recreation Center and Sportsplex in the winter, and the state-of-the-art athletic facility at Williamsville North High School in the summer.

What began as a shared passion for their daughters’ sport soon grew into something much larger. After traveling to tournaments across the Northeast and experiencing the intense love for the game in states like Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Virginia, these families’ goals evolved. Stampede teams began achieving success in national tournaments, gaining attention and exposure to the recruiting process. This success opened their eyes to the opportunities field hockey could offer aspiring student-athletes at all levels.

Stampede’s mission has since expanded into a long-term commitment to promoting and growing the sport of field hockey in Western New York, while helping student-athletes achieve their dreams of playing in college. In a short time, Stampede has successfully facilitated the recruitment of several girls to D1, D2, and D3 programs.

Welcoming players of all skill levels, Stampede conducts evaluation days at the start of each session to assess skill levels and group players accordingly. The winter and spring programs focus on a range of areas, including:

  • Basic and advanced ball skills
  • Shooting and passing techniques
  • Small area skills and game strategies
  • Teamwork to enhance performance
  • Sport-specific exercises to improve fitness and strength
  • Building self-confidence and discipline through athletics

Whether aiming to improve high school performance or aspiring to play at the college level, Stampede offers regular opportunities to participate in national recruiting tournaments such as Winter Escape, Spring Fling, and Shooting Star, as well as regional tournaments for younger players. These experiences provide valuable exposure to recruiters and different styles of play.

Stampede is committed to providing the highest level of field hockey instruction at an affordable price, while guiding those who aspire to play at the collegiate level on the pathway to realizing their dreams.
