About David Gallagher
With over five decades at the helm of Gallagher Printing, David has dedicated 51 years as its CEO. In 1969, to advertise the new location on Tacoma Avenue in North Buffalo, he started the North Buffalo Rocket, a weekly community newspaper. The business’s growth necessitated a larger space, leading to the 1980 purchase of the building at 2507 Delaware Avenue in North Buffalo, where three additions were made to accommodate larger presses for the newspaper.
As printing technology evolved in the 1990s, Gallagher Printing embraced color printing and expanded into digital and full-color printing, acquiring the latest equipment, technology, and software. With the entry of his two sons, Dennis and Daryl, the business continued to flourish, becoming synonymous with service, quality, and price in Buffalo’s printing industry.
Beyond printing, his passion for journalism continued with a weekly column in the Buffalo Rocket, written under the pseudonym Joe Bortz. The Buffalo Rocket has been in circulation for over 50 years, providing hundreds of local businesses the opportunity to advertise widely throughout the Western New York community.
His community involvement includes serving as President of the HNBBA for six years and holding leadership positions as President and District Chairman in Kiwanis. He also served on the board of the Buffalo Convention Center and successfully acquired 15 print shops over the years. Additionally, he buys and sells antiques and has been a devoted Buffalo Bills season ticket holder for 50 years, eagerly awaiting their Super Bowl victory. He spends his winters in Estero, Florida, on the Gulf Coast.
His specialties include collecting letterpress printing items, leading Kiwanis, golfing, fishing, swimming, and managing numerous projects.
