Maryalice Demler: Renowned Anchor, Acclaimed Journalist, and Dedicated Community Advocate

Maryalice Demler anchors Channel 2 News “On Your Side” at 5:00, 6:00, and 11:00 PM each weeknight alongside co-anchor Scott Levin. Together, they have served as the station’s main anchor team since 2002, making them the longest-tenured anchor duo in Western New York. Their trusted reporting and exceptional journalism have earned them numerous accolades, including regional and national honors from the Associated Press, the New York Emmys, the New York State Broadcasters Association, and the Edward R. Murrow Awards, among others.

Maryalice’s illustrious career includes extensive live reporting for Channel 2 from significant global events. She covered the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, and reported from Toronto during World Youth Day with Pope John Paul II. Her international coverage also includes reporting from Rome during the Papal Conclave that elected Pope Francis and attending the funeral of Pope John Paul II. She traveled to New York City for extended coverage of Pope Benedict’s visit, to Philadelphia for Pope Francis’ visit, and to Washington, D.C. for the funeral of NBC Political Analyst and Buffalo native Tim Russert.

In addition to her role as a leading anchor, Maryalice is a highly sought-after featured speaker and emcee, averaging about 50 personal appearances each year. Her dedication to community service is evident through her volunteer work and leadership roles. She is the founder of The Go Getta Girls Scholarship and Foundation, which supports young girls and women in pursuing higher education. She also established The Go Getta Mix & Mingle, an annual event recognizing ten women who serve as role models for aspiring individuals. Her podcast, The G-Code with ADRI.V, is a top-ranked weekly show that highlights emerging talents and influential figures in the entertainment industry.

Maryalice has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including Peaceprints of WNY, Kids Escaping Drugs, and Canal Fest of the Tonawandas. She has been recognized for her community service with awards such as Business First’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Community Leaders, the Niagara University Alumni Founder’s Award, and the St. Vincent DePaul Award.

An honors graduate of Niagara University, Maryalice holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and French. She is a native of North Tonawanda and was crowned “Miss New York State” in 1990, representing the Empire State at the Miss America Pageant. Her broadcasting career began in 1993 as a morning radio personality at WJYE-FM in Buffalo, where she co-hosted “Joe and Maryalice in the Morning.” Before her broadcasting career, she taught middle school French and worked as a special projects director at DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
