About Chestnut Ridge Park

The Chestnut Ridge Conservancy is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that collaborates closely with the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry to serve as an additional resource for restoration efforts, park improvements, and event hosting at Chestnut Ridge Park. The organization’s mission is supported by the generous contributions of time and expertise from its Board of Directors, along with financial donations from the public.

Visitors to Chestnut Ridge Park can enjoy a wide range of activities, including scenic driving, hiking, biking, walking, and exploring the park’s trails. The park offers designated areas for family and group picnics, as well as children’s play areas. Additionally, there are 12 tennis courts that feature lighting from April 15th to September 30th each year, as well as informal sports diamonds for recreational use.

The park is also home to The Ravine 18-hole Disc Golf Course, providing an engaging outdoor activity for visitors. Throughout the year, the park hosts numerous opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreation in all seasons. Amenities include an athletic sports field and family picnic grills. One of the park’s lesser-known sections, located in the southwest portion and sometimes called the “Shale Creek Preserve,” offers a truly immersive natural experience, boasting dense wooded ravines and the unique geological feature known as the “Eternal Flame Falls.”

Given the park’s natural aquatic features, various types of aquatic alerts may be in effect. It is recommended that visitors check relevant websites for the latest updates and safety information.
