Jazz Meets Punk in Buffalo’s Westside

Black Dots, named after Bad Brains’s 1996 album “Black Dots”, may be dedicated to Punk but their connection and reverence for Jazz is quite clear. (They have Black Dots stickers styled/dedicated after Jackie McLean’s “It’s Time”) The record store has a sweet full service bar in the back, which is perfect for the multiple types of shows they have. From live jazz, to hip-hop acts and vinyl spinning nights, Black Dots is one of the neatest and current record stores in Buffalo.

Black Dots has been independently owned and operated since 2013. Now in their third and biggest location on Grant Street in the heart of Buffalo’s West Side, they have expanded from a small boutique shop to a media outlet. They also carry CDs, cassettes, DVDs and VHS, band tees, stereo gear, and more.
