About Delaware Park

Delaware Park in Buffalo is a 350‑acre masterpiece of pastoral design by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, lovingly maintained by the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy. Divided into the open “Meadow Park” to the east and the serene “Water Park” centered on Hoyt Lake to the west, the park creates a natural escape dense with heritage, recreation, and culture. Visitors can stroll miles of scenic pathways, boat or skate on the lake, play golf, tennis, or softball, or simply relax amid its rolling meadows and woodlands. Architectural highlights include the elegant Marcy Casino (now The Terrace restaurant), the Rose Garden, Ivy Bridge, and a replica of Michelangelo’s “David,” while the edges host the Buffalo Zoo, Buffalo AKG Art Museum and History Museum. Its combination of lush green spaces, recreational amenities, historic landmarks and community events—like Shakespeare in the Park—solidify its place as Buffalo’s beloved “Central Park”.
