Since joining WIVB-TV in August 2022, Chelsea Lovell has become a standout personality in Buffalo, NY. With her bright smile, vibrant energy, and multifaceted talents, she has quickly won the hearts of local residents. From hosting WIVB’s lifestyle show “Daytime Buffalo” to championing community causes, Chelsea’s presence has been nothing short of impactful.
From Queens to the Queen City
Chelsea Lovell hails from Queens, New York, but her roots in broadcast journalism and a passion for storytelling have brought her to Western New York. A graduate of the University of Miami, Chelsea majored in broadcast journalism and minored in public relations and dance. During her college years, she honed her on-camera skills as a host, reporter, and executive producer for the UMTV campus station. She also made her mark as a member of the Sunsations Dance Team and played an active role as the president of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Her professional path began with internships at NBC 6 in Miami and E! News in Los Angeles, but it was at WETM in Elmira, NY, where Chelsea truly began paying her dues. After two years of covering news and tackling the demands of local journalism, Chelsea’s talent was recognized by WIVB, where she began as the morning traffic anchor and reporter.
Hosting “Daytime Buffalo”
Chelsea’s charisma and natural hosting abilities soon earned her a promotion to host WIVB’s “Daytime Buffalo,” a lifestyle show that highlights the people, businesses, and culture of Western New York. With her bubbly personality and genuine curiosity, Chelsea has brought a fresh and relatable energy to the program, elevating it to become a local favorite.
Chelsea describes the role as a dream come true, allowing her to spotlight the good news and hidden gems of Buffalo. Whether sharing inspiring stories, promoting local businesses, or connecting with residents, Chelsea has turned “Daytime Buffalo” into a joyful celebration of the community.
A Personal Commitment to Service
Chelsea’s work extends well beyond the studio. She currently holds the prestigious Miss America Organization title of Miss Buffalo. Through this platform, she has launched her community service initiative, “Resilient Warriors,” which provides aid and raises awareness for individuals impacted by domestic violence.
This mission is deeply personal for Chelsea. Having experienced domestic violence in her own childhood and living in shelters with her family, she understands the struggles many face. Today, she partners with organizations like the Family Justice Center, Buffalo City Mission, and Catholic Charities to support survivors and provide resources to those in need. She even incorporates her background in dance by leading classes for women and children in shelters, offering them a creative outlet and a path to healing.
Dancing Through Life
Chelsea’s love of dance continues to play an integral role in her life. She is a proud member of the Buffalo Bandettes, the dance team for the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse games. This role not only allows her to perform but also deepens her connection to the community.
One particularly touching memory for Chelsea is when she danced alongside the “Danceability” group, a team of special needs performers, during a Bandits game. The standing ovation they received from the audience left a lasting impression on her, showcasing the power of inclusion and the strong sense of community in Buffalo.

Chelsea’s resilience and success serve as a beacon of hope for others facing challenges. She is passionate about helping others overcome difficult circumstances and achieve their goals.
