Jordan Norkus: A Rising Star in Buffalo’s Local News
If you’ve tuned in to WIVB-TV in Buffalo, NY, you’ve likely seen Jordan Norkus delivering the news with professionalism and warmth. Since joining the News 4 team in October 2021, Jordan has established herself as one of Buffalo’s trusted voices in journalism, combining her passion for storytelling with her dedication to the community.
A Drive for Excellence
Originally from Waterbury, Connecticut, Jordan brought a wealth of experience when she moved to Buffalo. Before anchoring on News 4, she held the position of primetime evening news anchor for WETM 18 News in Elmira, NY. Her work there showcased her ability to cover a wide variety of topics, solidifying her skillset as a journalist and leader in broadcast news.
At WIVB-TV, Jordan can be seen anchoring “News 4 at Noon,” “News 4 at 4” alongside Dave Greber, and “News 4 at 7,” a program she helped launch shortly after her arrival. Her Emmy-nominated and award-winning achievements are a testament to her dedication to journalistic excellence.
A Passion for Storytelling
Jordan is not just about reading headlines—she’s about capturing the meaning behind stories that matter to Western New Yorkers. One of her standout projects, created during Mental Health Awareness Month in 2021, was awarded “Outstanding Public Service Announcement/Campaign” by the New York State Broadcasters Association. For this project, she compiled heartfelt responses from prominent leaders, including Gov. Kathy Hochul, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger, shedding light on the importance of mental health.
Her talent for meaningful engagement was also evident during her time freelancing and interning with WSHU Public Radio, Connecticut’s NPR-affiliated station. Whether reporting on legislature or keeping listeners informed on major community issues, her storytelling always carried depth and sincerity.
Dedication to the Arts and Academia
Jordan’s work in media is rooted in years of academic and extracurricular development. A graduate of Sacred Heart University, she earned both a B.A. in Media Arts and Theatre Arts and later, an M.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Media Production. During her time at Sacred Heart, she was actively involved in media clubs, led her student-run TV news program, and performed leading roles in the university’s theatre arts productions—earning multiple BroadwayWorld Award nominations in the process.
Her flair for performance and presentation, combined with her sharp journalistic instincts, shaped her into the multifaceted figure Western New Yorkers admire today.
Connecting with the Buffalo Community
For Jordan, journalism is more than a career—it’s a way to connect with the residents of Buffalo. Her approachable demeanor and on-screen charisma make her a relatable presence, while her genuine interest in the city’s people and culture solidifies her bond with the community.
Though relatively new to Buffalo, she has already made an impact by highlighting local stories and voices that might otherwise go unheard. She infuses her work with personality, whether interviewing notable figures, covering critical issues, or simply sharing a laugh with viewers at the end of a broadcast.
Beyond the Newsroom
Off-camera, Jordan enjoys indulging in life’s joys—such as eating pasta, binge-watching TV shows, and spending time with her bearded dragon, Drogon. True to her adventurous and curious nature, she’s always ready to explore the best that Buffalo and its surrounding areas have to offer.
Jordan’s favorite mantra, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” reveals her willingness to take on challenges and push herself to new heights—qualities that set her apart in a fast-paced industry.
