#OnThisDay In 1975, Lynyrd Skynyrd play the first night of a two-night stand at New Century Theatre. This concert is infamous for the balcony swaying during the band’s performance of Free Bird. The venue was demolished in 1978, as a result of it’s decaying structural integrity, made clear by this show. An empty lot still occupies where New Century once stood on Main Street. Have you ever seen Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert? Did you ever get to see a show at Century or New Century? This Buffalo history post was brought to you by Hi-Fi Hits Records and More!
