#OnThisDay In 1870, Mark Twain marries Olivia Langdon and moves into 472 Delaware Avenue following their wedding. The home was a wedding gift from Langdon’s father, which Twain definitely appreciated, hanging a plaque on the front door which proclaimed “Mark Twain lives here and my father-in-law pays the rent”. Twain wrote for The Express, a newspaper at the time. Twain and his wife sold the house a year later in 1871. Sadly, the home was destroyed by fire in 1963. Did you know Mark Twain had lived in Buffalo? Did you ever get to see the home before it burnt down?
