#OnThisDay In 1957, Reverend Dr. J. Edward Nash passes away. Rev. Nash came to Buffalo in 1892 to serve as pastor to the Michigan Street Baptist Church, which had roots in abolitionist causes. Rev. Nash is known as one of the most influential leaders of Buffalo’s Black community, serving crucial roles in Buffalo’s NAACP and Nationak Urban League. Rev. Nash’s home is now a museum, celebrating him and Buffalo’s historic Black community. The home-now-museum resides on Nash Street as well, named in his honor. Are you familiar with Rev. Nash and his contributions to Buffalo? Have you ever seen him on the Freedom Wall mural located on East Ferry at Michigan?
