#OnThisDay In 1926, Shea’s Buffalo, at 646 Main St., opens to the public, showing the film King of Main Street. In 1948, Loew’s Theatres took over Shea’s. It fell into disrepair during th e60s & 70s, with the owner also failing to pay his taxes. Loew’s tried to strip the valuables and skip town but Shea’s was saved by the Friends of Buffalo in the 70s. Legendary names from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to Steely Dan and Mary J. Blige graced the Shea’s stage. Have you ever gotten to see a show at Shea’s? Do you remember when Loew’s almost took all the beauty from Shea’s?
