#OnThisDay In 1975, Talking Leaves opens as a book co-op on Main Street. Eventually having to revert to regular corporation, they became “Talking Leaves”. The store was able to survive the independent bookstore shirnkage caused by Amazon, at one point becoming Buffalo’s only independent bookstore. In 2001, they opened their Elmwood store, which is still open! Unfortunately in 2017, they had to close their original Main St. location due to declining sales.
